Hey All - I'm Dave.
I made this account with the lens of posting content I want my future son-in-law to consume, whoever he may be.
I post about:
- Faith
- Family
- Overcoming Challenges
- Being a Good Man
- Career Advice
- Sales Advice
You won't find perfection here, but you will find someone who knows what he's aiming at.
I'm a Christian, Husband, Dad, Exhorter, and Activated.
Stoked to meet you and grow together!
Proverbs 16:3: "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."
I think we underestimate how good it feels to have something you’re slowly getting better at.
Not because you’re trying to master it.
Just because last year you couldn’t do what you can do now.
Maybe you’re stronger.
Better with money.
More patient with your kids.
Better at your job.
More comfortable talking to strangers.
You can cook a few meals really well.
You finally understand something that used to confuse you.
You know your way around a tool you once had to Google every five minutes.
Your prayers are a little less about asking and a little more about listening.
None of it happened overnight.
You just kept showing up.
And somewhere along the way, things that used to be difficult became normal.
That’s one of my favorite kinds of progress.
Quiet enough that nobody else notices.
But you do.
“I don’t know how do do that”
Is VERY different than
“It can’t be done”
Don’t let them write you off because they don’t understand something.
“It can’t be done” is rarely a sufficient answer.
Fields you need to pay more attention to:
- cyber security (digital and physical)
- human psychology
- ecology
- regenerative biology
- hydrology
- healthcare change management
You’re going to likely hear a lot about all of these as AI continues to steamroll
We spend enormous amounts of money trying to make our lives easier.
Then spend enormous amounts of money trying to recreate the physical difficulty we removed.
Walk more.
Carry things.
Grow something.
Use your body.
Your life can change a lot faster than you think.
Don’t write off your future because you’re frustrated with your present.
Get out there and make it happen!
I think one of the best things you can build is a life people feel comfortable dropping into.
The kind of house where someone can stop by without everything being perfect.
There’s probably something in the fridge.
A chair for you at the table.
Coffee takes five minutes.
Nobody cares what you’re wearing.
The kids are running around.
Someone puts music on.
A conversation starts in the kitchen and somehow everyone is still standing there an hour later.
Nothing impressive happened.
Nobody planned it.
Nobody took a picture.
It was just good.
I used to think a rich life meant having a lot.
I’m starting to think it might mean having a lot of moments like that.
Being a good man isn’t about never getting angry, discouraged, afraid, or tired.
It’s about deciding those things don’t control you, YOU get to choose what kind of man you are today.
Day 8, in the books.
Back at it with chest, back, abs.
Did not feel great coming out of it. Tbh, was like a bit of a wall today. That’s all good, it’s all part of it. But documenting the suck so I can keep a vibe check.
