Yesterday, I had the honor of sharing research from my lab as the 10th Dave Kilmer Memorial Lecture Speaker at UC Davis. Dr. Kilmer's pioneering work was a driving force behind my decision to pursue neuromuscular medicine as a career.
Beautiful paper. Scientists solved the structure of myosin—the protein that forms contractile filaments in muscle cells—in multiple configurations using Cryo-EM.
They captured the entire power stroke action (where myosin pulls on actin to shorten the muscle) at4.4 Å resolution.
Excited and proud to share great news about Dr. Viteri’s recent grant. Strong work! Excited to see the impact that this work can have on increasing our mechanistic understanding of ALS and developing better treatments. https://t.co/sn4QrCD5Nw
Excited to share our recent pre-print @researchsquare: Targeting senescence in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: senolytic treatment improves neuromuscular function and preserves cortical excitability in a TDP-43Q331K mouse model. https://t.co/mvGc1cIr5V
Team science is the best science. This is a great write up about a collaborative project triggered by a chance meeting during a virtual poster session at SFN. Plus there's more to come stemming this collaboration in the near future.
