BREAKING: Experts SOUND ALARM after Trump issues memo that could allow his staff to delete millions of White House emails in violation of record preservation laws.

The timing alone should set off alarm bells. The Trump administration is currently being challenged in court over its preservation of government documents. And this week, it issued new internal guidance that a leading archives expert says gives White House staff "license to do the exact opposite" of preserving records.

The memo, issued by White House Counsel David Alan Warrington to Executive Office of the President staffers, represents a "significant departure from historical practice" — Warrington's own words. It quietly rewrites the rules around which communications need to be saved and how.

University of Maryland professor Jason R. Baron, who specializes in archives and the law, read the memo and sounded the alarm immediately. The new guidance, he told the Washington Post, provides nothing that "prevents the White House from directing the transfer or destruction of White House records, including tens of millions of emails, either before or after the end of the president's second term in office."

The key sleight of hand is buried in the language. The memo says EOP components are "free to retain" previous record-preservation policies. As Baron points out, that also means they are free not to. Text messages now only need to be preserved "when they are the sole record of official decision-making" — and staffers are merely "encouraged" to memorialize those exchanges in another format rather than preserving the original exchange directly.

Translation: if someone decides a text isn't the "sole record" of something, they can delete it. And nobody has to take a screenshot.

Federal law is unambiguous. Presidents and their staff are required to preserve records related to government activity and turn them over to the National Archives at the end of each administration. Warrington’s memo, however, doesn't clarify whether these records will actually be turned over, and doesn't specify how Trump or Vance will personally preserve their own records.

This is the administration that used Signal to discuss active military strikes in a chat that included a journalist. The administration that has fired numerous inspectors general. The administration that is fighting records requests in court while issuing internal guidance that makes destruction discretionary.

"While paying lip service to the need to preserve White House records," Baron said, "the memo actually gives EOP staff license to do the exact opposite." Nixon erased 18 minutes of tape. Trump's team may be preparing to erase tens of millions of emails.

"Earlier this week at the White House, I met a wonderful woman named Sharon Simmons, a grandmother driving DoorDash to help support her husband's cancer treatment," Trump said at an event in Las Vegas, reading from prepared remarks. "He's got serious cancer, he going to be okay, I think. Sharon delivered McDonald's to the Oval Office."

The PR stunt in question was a pathetic attempt to flog the section of his "big, beautiful bill" that allows some workers to deduct a portion of tipped income from their taxes. It quickly went off the rails for Trump, as Simmons refused to endorse his transphobic remarks on camera.

"It was a little bit of a, you know, I mean, to be honest, it was a little tacky," Trump said of the event, looking up from his notes. "You know, they come up with these crazy ideas like McDonald's, although that was the biggest ever on Google, they say. Number one ever and the, uh, garbage truck. I mean, we do these things in politics..."

"They're a little embarrassing," Trump continued. "They're a little tiny embarrassing, but we do them and you win by landslides. You know, it's one of the... So we got to keep doing— No, we got to knock on the Oval Office door. This did not happen."

"That's the first maybe in the history of the Oval Office. And it was a very beautiful woman standing there with two big bags of McDonald's hamburgers," he went on. "And I say, is this really believable? But the point of it was she made $11,000 that she had no idea was coming. And it was really great. It turned out to be really great."

By admitting that the entire thing was staged, Trump has exposed Simmons as a willing political pawn of his fascist agenda. Not only that, but his admission that it was tacky makes her look tacky and buffoonish by extension.

More interesting than Trump's admission that the event was totally fake is what that admission reveals about his political beliefs. Trump thinks that his voters are stupid, gullible, and easily manipulated by the most transparent, bargain bin, low IQ messaging. He has nothing but disdain for this kind of political theater, but he knows that it plays well with the rubes who make up his base.

As for Trump's desperate new push to highlight the "no tax on tips" segment of his historically disastrous bill, it simply will not be enough to salvage his electoral prospects. Americans know that the real goal of the bill was to gut the social safety net, including roughly $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid. The midterms are coming and with them, a massive blue wave!

Republicans unveil new plan to pay for Trump's Iran war by taking healthcare away from THOUSANDS of sick Americans!

MAHA, my ass! Trump’s MAGA legislators couldn’t care less if you live or die, judging from their latest idiotic scheme.

While working families struggle to afford their prescriptions and doctors’ visits, MAGA lawmakers are plotting to gut the healthcare programs that ordinary Americans depend on — all to bankroll an unpopular war with Iran that Donald Trump started and DHS’s cruel mass deportation machine.

According to a bombshell new report from Axios, top House Republicans are eyeing massive cuts to federal health programs as "offsets" to fund a budget bill containing up to $200 billion for the Iran war and ICE enforcement. You know — the same ICE that just triggered a government shutdown because Republicans refused to stop throwing billions at it.

Let's be crystal clear about what this means: the GOP wants to take health care away from YOU so they can pay for a war that the American people never asked for and never wanted.

House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) is already reviving a scheme to gut Affordable Care Act cost-sharing subsidies — a move that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has confirmed would leave 300,000 more Americans without health insurance and force millions more to pay higher out-of-pocket premiums. All to save the government $30 billion. That's $30 billion that will go straight into funding Trump's military adventurism in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) had the audacity to dress these cruel cuts up as fighting "fraud and waste and abuse." That's right — the same Republicans who just handed billionaires and corporations a massive tax giveaway are suddenly very concerned about waste. Just not the kind that involves bombing Iran.

And it gets worse.

While Arrington publicly wrings his hands about the "false narrative" of cutting Medicare, he privately told Axios he'd personally LOVE to cut Medicare payments to hospitals and crack down on Medicare Advantage — policies that would directly harm seniors who depend on those programs. He's just worried about how it looks in an election year. Not about the people it would hurt. About how it looks.

On Medicaid, Republicans are already salivating over the chance to strip coverage from vulnerable Americans again — including reviving their disgusting push to ban states from covering undocumented immigrants, ripping away health care from people whose only "crime" is seeking a better life.

Some Republicans, however, are nervous about taking such drastic steps that would harm their own constituents tremendously. Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), when asked if he was worried about these cuts, could only muster "I'll see." That is the sum total of MAGA's empathy for the 300,000 Americans who could lose their health insurance: "I'll see."

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said it best: "Republicans in Congress want to cut Americans' health care to pay for more war in Iran. Let that sink in."
These are the priorities of Trump’s congressional sycophants.

Republicans want to take away your health insurance. They want to raise your premiums. They want to kick vulnerable people off Medicaid. And they want to use every single dollar they save to drop bombs on Iran and terrorize immigrant families with ICE raids.

This is not a drill. This is not a hypothetical. This is the Republican Party's agenda — in their own words, confirmed by their own leaders, in black and white.

“The Trump administration has chosen denial, repealing critical protections that are foundational to the federal government’s response to climate change. We will not let the federal government abandon its responsibility to the people," James stated in a press release.

Jame's legal coalition is composed of 40 states as well as other, smaller groups. They're aiming to overturn the disastrous decision by Trump's EPA to repeal the 2009 endangerment finding, which formed the foundation of much of our climate regulation legal architecture.

The repeal of that finding — which held that greenhouse gases are a danger to public health and the environment — has long been an objective of the oil companies who helped foist Trump into power. They'll deny science and gladly burn the world to the ground if it means increased profits for them in the short term.

James filed her legal petition in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. as well as in California, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Her coalition is arguing that the repeal is clearly in defiance of the science, ignores evidences, and violates the Clean Air Act.

This is the kind of bold action we need from our political leaders right now. We have to fight the Trump administration at every turn if there's going to be any chance of a livable world for future generations.

BREAKING: The White House FREAKS out after a report reveals that Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff has been desperately begging Iran to negotiate via text messages — which Iran has ignored.

The humiliation never ends with this administration...

“Behind the scenes, it is the Trump administration that has been asking for talks,” reported Jeremy Scahill of Drop Site News.

“Two Iranian officials told Drop Site that Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff personally sent messages to officials in Tehran, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, last week exploring possibilities for resuming negotiations. Iran has not replied to Witkoff. The Iranian officials told Drop Site that Iran has also received messages from the White House via third countries,” wrote Scahill.

Drop Site further reported that a "senior Iranian official" revealed that Witkoff has repeatedly tried to restart peace negotiations but “Iran has once again closed the window for any direct negotiations.”

Meanwhile, Trump has been lying through his teeth and insists that Iran's leaders "want to negotiate badly" and claims that the United States is easily winning the war. In reality, Iran is pummeling U.S. bases and the oil infrastructure of our Gulf allies. The Strait of Hormuz has been choked off to western ships, leading to a sharp increase in global oil prices.

The truth is that Iran has all of the real leverage here. They have realized that this is an existential battle for their survival. If they allow the U.S. to end this war after assassinating their leader and slaughtering their women and children with bombs, it's likely that America and Israel will wait a few months, restock their weapons, and attack again. Iran has calculated that a longer conflict now is worth it if it discourages further acts of aggression.

The Trump administration predictably flew off the handle over Drop Site's reporting—

“The radical, left-wing Drop Site News is clearly carrying water for the Iranian terrorist regime – and reports like these based on pure fiction and citing unnamed anonymous sources should be discarded immediately,” a White House spokesperson told Drop Site News.

“Iran feeds this fake news media outlet propaganda and they publish it as fact, which is abhorrent, America Last behavior. Operation Epic Fury will continue unabated until President Trump, as Commander-in-Chief, determines that the goals of Operation Epic Fury, including for Iran to no longer pose a military threat, have been fully realized," they added.

Of course, in MAGA world anything other than the most obsequious, praise-drenched support for Donald Trump is painted as "radical left-wing fake news." At this point, these smears fall on deaf ears. It's clear to everyone outside of Trump's cult of personality that this war — in addition to being a moral catastrophe and historic criminal act — is proving to be a strategic disaster. When it does eventually end, everyone involved in launching it must be investigated and prosecuted for war crimes.
