@JustEsBaraheni You’re already losing any trade value, whatever assets you put into the player, and that player. Why should a team also be punished for years for paying a guy who got hurt or fell off?
Let teams waive players and pay them out but off the cap and players make *more* money.
@JustEsBaraheni Lose Dame, either sacrifice two years at $55m or stretch to $22m a year. Now, if you extend Giannis, you’re paying $65m a year. He gets hurt and the Bucks can’t compete for at least 5 years.
@BartWinklerShow The Bucks became a single-star team and those struggle to fill talent bc the star takes up cap and keeps the draft picks late. Dame was desperation that ended the way it was most likely to end. The bucks were an acl, a wet spot, a middleton three, and a virus away from a dynasty
@BartWinklerShow Middleton only had a few windows of health. During the prime years, there was a pandemic and a Rittenhouse. There were a few other injuries. This is a team that would have won 3 titles with normal luck and 4 with good luck. And if Jabari stayed healthy, would still be in it.
@BucksFilmRoom with the trade exception, the bucks can free up more space by trading him for expirings back. (welcome back to milwaukee tobias harris) while also picking up assets.
Bucks do not need to be paying max salaries to non-alpha stars right now.
@nathanmarzion But who do you think they should have taken instead of AJ Johnson?
I get that it was wasn’t a successful pick, but who should’ve they picked instead?
@BucksFilmRoom The Dame trade was a swing for the fences. If we really want to discuss when Giannis should have been traded, that’s a good place to start. It was obvious that the bucks were putting all their eggs in an aging supermax basket
@G_Webs_Since_93@Processing32349@sell_dalton i thought their drafting was terrible too, but i looked up all the drafts and there just weren’t a lot of picks after them that would have been appreciably better.
@nathanmarzion Giannis leaving is the best thing he could do for the Bucks at this point. Bad luck kept him from being a multi-champion but basketball reality is that the Dame injury ended any hope of rebuilding around Giannis. This was the best thing for the Bucks and Giannis.
@socialistbucks People don’t seem to understand - once Dame went down with the achilles, the bucks and Giannis were out options.
Not sure Miami was the legacy choice for him, but 4 more years at $70m and Dames $22m and no draft picks was gonna cripple the team for a generation.
@socialistbucks It’s not. Ware + Juk + JJJr are basically 3 1st round picks in value. Hierro is probably more, especially with the trade exception. And when the heat picks transfer, giannis and bam are gonna be making about $140m combined and giannis will be 35.
@BucksFilmRoom As someone who remembers the Vin Baker draft, this team is way better than previous rebuilds. Need draft success this year, but Rollins/JJJr/Ware plus the picks and Dieng/Jak is a lot of young talent that can make leaps.
Dame contract is gonna be an albatross tho.
