The right to peaceful protest is an important part of Australian democracy, but not support for a prescribed terrorist organisation.
Police must investigate and prosecute those who support and promote violence.
Extremism is a threat to our social cohesion.
@ChristyDanFan Labor just as bad though. Labor: don’t blame migrants for complex societal problems. Also Labor: international students have caused the housing crisis (demonstrably untrue). It is a race to the bottom at present.
@jeromelaxale@jeromelaxale - but your lot are no better - just look at your recent international student policy - blaming overseas students for housing crisis when, as you point out, they have nothing to do with it. Both sides atm are rich on populist rhetoric and poor on good economic policy
@JuliaHB1 The fact that this is still here is a huge problem - especially since we know now that this tragedy is unrelated to ideology and is not a terrorist event. Please stop leveraging such events to boost your followers. Uninformed at best - willfully ignorant at worst.

@Lusan99@MichaelRuyg@JaneCaro@vmp9 I read the Guardian, The Australian and everything in between. I disagree with plenty written across all mastheads. My point is that intentionally narrow-casting your info sources feeds into the hyper-partisanship that dominates social media (and politics more broadly!)
@MichaelRuyg@JaneCaro@vmp9 What a silly statement. Why would you want to only read things you agree with? This is no different than right wing loonies dumping on the ABC. People refusing to leave the comfort blanket of their own echo chamber is part of the reason our political environment is so toxic.
@RichardYabsley You say this like it is a contrarian insight. It would be embarrassing for them if they didn’t. Not since 1931 has a fed gov failed to win a second term. Minority gov looking very likely though.
Incredible to have Leonardo DiCaprio supporting our Forests Pledge to end native forest logging in Australia!
Our hard work behind the scenes on Climate and the Australian Environment is paying dividends.

This article is a misrepresentation of nearly every quoted data point, with some frank misinformation (that there are over 2300 covid orphans in Australia). You can't compare paediatric COVID and flu/rsv hospital admissions, because we have never systematically tested every admitted patient for flu/rsv. There is no attempt to differentiate incidental, social and actual respiratory admissions. This is no better than how the anti-vax movement selectively quotes data and then re-jigs it to suit their own arguments. Its a real shame this still goes on in 2023. @CroakeyNews https://t.co/NQy1zJXAEh
@ManUtd The misogyny on @X re @ManUtd decision to release #MasonGreenwood beggars belief. Any real Utd fan would have been appalled had the club kept him. The club did the right thing and should have done it sooner. #GreenwoodOut
