I lost a wonderful friend.
Cinema lost its greatest working poster artist.
And, saddest of all, a wonderful little girl lost her dad.
RIP Tony Stella. I love you man.
I was looking for that ROTJ to post with this, but this collage is fantastic.
Thank you @jordanjabroni
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - THE COMPLETE COLLECTION OF THAI THEATRICAL RELEASE POSTERS 🇹🇭
I have put #5 first simply as it's INCREDIBLY rare. It also features part of what was to be the original US poster concept design - the baby in the bubble (this was replaced by a rather gothic pram for the US release - the baby was deemed offensive to US audiences).
Fun fact: all five original US NOES posters were designed by Matthew Joseph Peak - the son of the legendary cinema artist, Bob Peak - a true master of the craft & up there with the like of Drew Struzan, John Alvin & Saul Bass.
There is absolutely no doubt that Thailand beat Japan here - the Thai NOES posters are mostly incredible... my favourite being the one for pt 3... so gruesome. This was actually quite similar to the planned US poster design, but the powers that be said NOPE!
I was never going to sell a complete set, but now I have a spare #5 - I will do. It's currently awaiting a little restoration & will be linen backed - the entire set will be linen backed, as I believe a complete set of these really is a treasure.
XL B1 - $3900: REVENGE OF THE JEDI (1983) - ULTRA, ULTRA RARE RECALLED JAPANESE B1 THEATRICAL ADVANCE POSTER 🇯🇵
This is, by a significant margin, the most expensive poster in my inventory.
And I'm sure you know why. Before George Lucas renamed it 'Return Of The Jedi' as 'revenge would be against the Jedi code' -
I think this kind of moots the idea that the 'Jedi' referenced in the title is Anakin Skywalker (although I really love that)... but from a certain point of view... hmm... revenge on Palpatine for grooming him into the dark side? Fck it, I'll run with it.
As soon as the change was finalised - Lucasfilm/Fox demanded all REVENGE posters etc be recalled & destroyed.
A handful survived.
Everything REVENGE is massively desirable for Star Wars fans/xollwbors... and this is absolute one of the best & most unique pieces.
SIZE: XL B1 (approx 30x40in / 70x100cm
CONDITION: VERY GOOD
$599: TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE (1986) EXTRAORDINARILY RARE //INCREDIBLE YOSHIYUKI TAKANI ARTWORK // JAPANESE THEATRICAL RELEASE POSTER 🇯🇵
There's a reason we've only posted two of these... and I think it's been 2-3 since the last... they are INCREDIBLY rare & are considered to be the ultimate TRANSFORMERS theatrical release poster amongst fans (myself included).
The artwork was done by legendary Japanese illustrator, YOSHIYUKI TAKANI whose work was synonymous with the golden age of such animated productions - he was a huge part of making the likes of Gundam, Macross, Evangelion, Studio Ghibli's Nausicaa & even the enormous video game series that put HIDEO KOJIMA on the map - Metal Gear Solid.
The film looked far superior to the series as the same team had a much bigger budget to work work with & has gone down as an animated classic, even beyond diehard TRANSFORMERS fans.
SIZE: B2 (Approx 50x70cm / 20x30in)
CONDITION: GOOD - VERY GOOD

$990 (set of three posters) : SEPPAKU (aka HARA-KIRI) - B2 / KIRU (aka KILL!) - B2 + RARE FORMAT BANNER POSTER - JAPANESE THEATRICAL RELEASE POSTER 🇯🇵
An incredible Tatsuya Nakadai triple pack!
This cannot be split (I literally cannot do it - my Japanese depot received all three in together from my supplier in a manner in which they just will not split it.
***I AM HAPPY TO HELP WITH LINEN BACKING ETC - BUT - YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS NOT A SERVICE THAT WE PROVIDE & MULTIPLE THIRD PARTIES ARE INVOLVED & THE BACKING PARTNER WILL HAVE AN UNPRECEDICTABLE QUEUE - IT COULD TAKE A FEW MONTHS***
(i) The first release 1962 SEPPAKU poster is worth a small fortune in itself - the only one I can find online is $2000 USD. This is not only regarded as one of the best Japanese films of all time, but also one of the best films ever made, period.
SIZE: B2 (approx 20x30in /50x70cm)
CONDITION: PRETTY GOOD - GOOD (a simple linen backing would bring it up to excellent, and if this doesn't sell quickly, that's exactly what I am going to do & it will be significantly more.
(ii) KIRU - first release 1968 poster. Another Nakadai classix. The samurai satire classic - showcasing a very different side of the legendary actor.
B2 SIZE (approx 20x30in/50x70cm)
CONDITION: GENERALLY GOOD - VERY GOOD - ONE SOFT VERTICAL FOLD ON THE MIDDLE.
(iii) KIRU - very scarce & obscure format banner poster.
SIZE: approx 10x50cm
CONDITION: GOOD - VERY GOOD
Such an incredible set. I have all of these framed & on my wall.
I *might* have another set but not 100%
There is a ninth one with the main PUNCH DRUNK LOVE Japanese theatrical release poster artwork... but nope... these are absolutely the ones!
Incredible artwork by Jeremy Blake
