Dave #FWEIWD

Dave W - pastor in the West Mids usual disclaimers about views being my own apply - except when I got them from someone else! #FWEIWD

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

#FWEIWD ... Follows Welcome Even If We disagree. Why not put this in your profile and encourage friendship civil conversation and mutual learning

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@eleni_sibbald Rare Jewel is great... watched the film version of the book thief ... it's on Sarah"s shelf

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

I love Party Leadership election pitches "We must all come together as one and stop attacking each other ... that's why you must vote for me and not those other idiots who will lead us to defeat"

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@Windy_London Then we discover that snr leaders were actually using physical violence which makes it darker still

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

Talk and twitter. 1.Rule of thumb would you say something to someone face to face?

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

Continuing the conversation about church culture and abuse in light of Smyth and Fletcher https://t.co/All9Bn8T6d

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@Windy_London It may seem ok between the banterees but it is heard by others who have experienced violence. It does not send a message of safety

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@thewilliamwade @PeterMead @jonnypwilson @OakHillLondon @Greenfarmhouse @UnionTheology Additionally I think it is the challenge many face when trying to teach people. They have become used to teaching formulas

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@thewilliamwade @PeterMead @jonnypwilson @OakHillLondon @Greenfarmhouse @UnionTheology Sorry should say non- expository. Any attempt at preaching can be formulaic if it doesn't start with learning to love God his word and your congregation with a deep love

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

4. If a vulnerable person heard you say it how would they feel?

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

3. If you did what you describe yourself/joke about doing would you be allowed to keep your job?

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@thewilliamwade @PeterMead @jonnypwilson @OakHillLondon @Greenfarmhouse @UnionTheology Remember people like him were responding to a culture of folksy story telling

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@PeterMead @thewilliamwade @jonnypwilson @OakHillLondon @Greenfarmhouse @UnionTheology Agree ... one of the problems with the original article is it misses that point

[Peter Mead @PeterMead]

@DaveWThoughts @thewilliamwade @jonnypwilson @OakHillLondon @Greenfarmhouse @UnionTheology Coming very late to a party that has already finished, but I would challenge the assumption that expository preaching is the same as sequential preaching, or explanatory preaching. Instead of seeing it as a method, I think we benefit more from seeing it as a philosophy/mindset -

[Peter Mead @PeterMead]

@DaveWThoughts @thewilliamwade @jonnypwilson @OakHillLondon @Greenfarmhouse @UnionTheology As John Stott put it, it is where the Bible is boss. So it is about authorial intent, but also involves effective communication, deep relevance and real dependence on God. A lot of what is called EP is a pale imitation of it. A verse by verse commentary is miles from true EP.

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@LabourList The Gov also seems to be clear that a. Iran's actions unacceptable but that US must reign it in

[Dave #FWEIWD @DaveWThoughts]

@LabourList A briefing from Defence sec is about the right level at this stage. A good way of de-escalating
