Apparently, now that City have won the PL transfer window, the window licking, saliva drooling, special needs British media and x accounts have started another narrative designed to feed the masses.

So let’s break that down.

One reason I have an interest in Nigerian events as a Ghanaian is that I understand the benefits of having a large, populous, and powerful regional neighbour.

The rise of China has brought great respite for many Asian countries (including the American outposts), especially its neighbours and has sped up development in many of them.

Also, all these external influences having a field day in West Africa will greatly reduce when Nigeria finally wakes up and becomes sovereign. And that is why, as someone who aspires to see a sovereign sub-Saharan Africa, the current state of Nigeria frustrates me.

But Nigeria shouldn't take too long, as there are African countries with the numbers, gravitas, and trajectory rising to fill those roles.

I am still saying it, and this is coming from someone who finds physics fascinating: medicine is way beyond anything engineering will ever accomplish.

An aircraft is a mighty feat. We designed it. A space rocket? We designed it. Electromagnetic technology, bridges, computers, all of these are incredible feats, but ultimately things we designed and built from the ground up.

Now think about medicine. Humans are opening up a body they did not design, navigating structures they did not create, knowing what to cut, what not to touch, what connects to what, where something needs to go and what carries it there and then putting the whole thing back together.

That is, and will probably forever remain, mightier to me than anything we have ever achieved as engineers.
