Jeshi la Ulinzi la Wananchi wa Tanzania (JWTZ) liko katika hatua za mwisho za kukamilisha ujenzi wa hospitali yenye hadhi ya Taifa inayojengwa katika eneo la Msalato, jijini Dodoma.

Kauli hiyo imetolewa na Mnadhimu Mkuu wa JWTZ Luteni Jenerali Salum Haji Othman mbele ya Kamati ya Kudumu ya Bunge ya Mambo ya Nje, Ulinzi na Usalama (NUU) wakati kamati hiyo ilipotembelea hospitali hiyo kwa lengo la kujionea maendeleo ya ujenzi wa mradi huo mkubwa wa afya.

Luteni Jenerali Othman amesema hospitali hiyo itakuwa na miundombinu ya kisasa pamoja na uwezo wa kutoa huduma za kibingwa na ubingwa bobezi, hatua ambayo itasaidia kuboresha upatikanaji wa huduma za afya kwa wanajeshi na wananchi kwa ujumla.

Akizungumza wakati wa ziara hiyo, Makamu Mwenyekiti wa Kamati ya Kudumu ya Bunge ya Mambo ya Nje, Ulinzi na Usalama (NUU),Mheshimiwa Paschal Inyasi Chinyele (MB), amepongeza maendeleo ya ujenzi wa hospitali hiyo na kueleza kuwa mradi huo ni muhimu kwa kuimarisha huduma za afya nchini.

Amesema kukamilika kwa hospitali hiyo kutasaidia kuongeza uwezo wa taifa katika utoaji wa huduma za matibabu ya kibingwa na kupunguza mzigo kwa hospitali nyingine za rufaa.

Naye Waziri wa Ulinzi na Jeshi la Kujenga Taifa (JKT) Mheshimiwa Rhimo Nyansaho (MB) ameihakikishia kamati hiyo kuwa Serikali imeshalipa fedha zote zinazohitajika ili kukamilisha ujenzi huo, hatua inayotarajiwa kuharakisha ukamilishaji wa mradi huo muhimu wa kimkakati.

Aidha, Kamati hiyo imeeleza kuridhishwa na kasi ya utekelezaji wa mradi huo na kuitaka JWTZ kuhakikisha kazi zilizobaki zinakamilika kwa wakati ili hospitali hiyo ianze kutoa huduma kwa wananchi na wanajeshi kama ilivyokusudiwa.

Hospitali hiyo inatarajiwa kuwa miongoni mwa vituo vikubwa vya matibabu nchini na kuchangia kwa kiasi kikubwa kuboresha sekta ya afya katika Jiji la Dodoma na maeneo mengine ya nchi.

Coffee farmers in Rwanda’s Western Province were watching a factory get dismantled in Kigali and asked a simple question: can that material build us a school instead of going to the landfill?

Mwito Pre-Primary School. Nyamasheke District, Western Province, Rwanda. Creative Assemblages and BE_Design. Completed 2019.

50% of the construction materials came from the dismantling of the Rwanda Trading Company’s former coffee processing factory in Kigali, ArchDaily salvaged and transported to a steep hillside site on the shores of Lake Kivu with views across the rice fields to the mountains of eastern DRC. The school sits on that slope without flattening it, stepping down the contours the way the land already moves, with covered corridors connecting three classrooms, a kitchen, composting toilets, a multipurpose space and open play areas.

Parents and coffee growers were hired in the construction, gaining skills and income in the process. TDC Magazine The coloured steel structure is what was salvaged. The brick is local. The school was built by the same community whose children now learn inside it.

Most schools built across this continent are designed somewhere else, procured somewhere else, and handed over to communities who had no part in making them and have no relationship with what they are made of, which is why they deteriorate within five years and nobody feels responsible for maintaining them. This school was different from the first conversation.

A building that understands where it stands is one that was designed with the people standing there.
