@RedWingDiehards The hold up on the Hughes trade was Hughes not willing to sign an extension. If Yzerman wasn’t convinced with Larkin being long term here, why would he make the trade as Hughes would not resign if Larkin bolts, or, Yzerman planned to trade him anyway.

@GrindLinePod Larkin is not Lidstrom, and it’s not 2011, pay market rate for the best ufa d man or trade for them and pay them. Trade picks, prospects, whatever you have to do for proven NHL players to go along with your core.
