أيها المواطنون الإسرائيليون، وقع هذا الصباح حادث أمني بالغ الخطورة على متن رحلة من دبي إلى إسرائيل. كان جميع ركاب الرحلة تقريبًا إسرائيليين. وخلال الرحلة، مع اقتراب الطائرة من إسرائيل، طعن أحد الطيارين الطيار الآخر، ويبدو أنه حاول إسقاط الطائرة بمن فيها.

تحدثتُ مع أحد الركاب الإسرائيليين. وأخبرني أن الطائرة دخلت في دوران وبدأت تهوي. وقال إنه تمكن، بصعوبة بالغة، من اقتحام قمرة القيادة برفقة أحد أفراد الطاقم، وأنهما تمكنا معًا من السيطرة على الطيار الذي نفّذ الطعن، بينما كان يحاول التشويش على أنظمة الطائرة. ودخل طاقم طيران إضافي كان على متن الطائرة إلى قمرة القيادة، وتمكن من استعادة توازنها.

أحيّي هؤلاء الأبطال الذين أظهروا سرعة بديهة وشجاعة استثنائية. لقد أنقذوا أرواحًا كثيرة ومنعوا كارثة جسيمة.

هبطت الطائرة بسلام في مطار تبوك في السعودية، وأصبح جميع الركاب خارج دائرة الخطر. وقد تم توقيف الطيار الذي نفّذ الطعن، وتحقق معه السلطات السعودية في هذه الأثناء.

نحن على اتصال متواصل بالسلطات المعنية لضمان استمرار سلامة الركاب وعودتهم الآمنة إلى إسرائيل.

وجّهتُ الأجهزة الأمنية إلى الاستعداد لمواجهة تهديدات محتملة إضافية. ونجري تقييمات متواصلة للوضع، وسنطلعكم على المستجدات وفقًا للتطورات.

This man is a hero.

Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian captain of flydubai Flight 1073, fought back after being stabbed in the cockpit.

Despite being severely injured, he managed to unlock the cockpit door - allowing Israeli passengers and the Emirati crew to intervene and save all the passengers.

Together, their extraordinary courage saved 174 lives.

Indian. Israeli. Emirati.

My wife's grandmother, Rachel Horenstein, was also denied the "privilege" of having a grave of her own, where my father- in-law, orphaned as a baby, could weep for her. She was assassinated in Auschwitz. May her memory be a blessing.

If you walk through an Israeli cemetery, you’ll notice something different.

On the graves of Holocaust survivors, below their own names, there are often lists of others. These are their parents, brothers, and sisters who were murdered by the Nazis, etched into the stone because they never received a grave of their own.

My grandparents’ headstones bear their names, and in their case as well, the slabs below carry the names of their siblings who were murdered in the Holocaust and denied a final resting place.

For survivors, their own grave became a memorial for an entire family wiped out.
It is a way to defy the Nazis’ attempt to erase them from history. It gives us, the grandchildren, a physical place to light a candle and say: “You existed. You are part of us.”

But there are those with no grave and no name carved into stone, because no one was left to write their names.

Our job is to be their memory. We remember those who have a name on a stone, and those who do not.

May their memories be a blessing.
