It's my last day at Macquarie today. I had a great opportunity to come here, but I realised that academia was not going to be right for me, and so I have taken a voluntary redundancy. Not completely sure what is next, but I will miss the great @MqMathsStats team.
@jefgreen3 Best wishes Ed, it's a shame that you've been put in this position but I'm sure you'll move on to better things. I know I am extremely grateful to have had your mentorship in the past.
A great opportunity for a postdoc, working with my brilliant colleague Yvonne Stokes and an outstanding international team - please pass on to any who may be interested: https://t.co/RiOo6LVRPc
Come do a PhD with me! I have multiple projects focused on developing maths for the Great Barrier Reef, Antarctica, and novel technologies. Students interested in math, ecology, and decision science, please reach out if you're interested https://t.co/eWzJfjpEQJ
What do you do if you're trying to find your way optimally through the mountains but you don't know the exact elevation profile? Solve a stochastic optimal control problem of course! With Christian Parkinson, @ABertozziUCLA and Stan Osher. Read it here: https://t.co/AiM8BaQcvn

“Forecasting s-curves is hard”
My views on why carefully following daily figures is unlikely to provide insight.
