@TravisSCouture Do you know another place that could use such a tunnel? Between Seattle and Bremerton or Seattle and Bainbridge Island - underneath Puget Sound. Today it is expensive and time-consuming ferries, or a long drive-around via Tacoma Narrows bridges.

@SeattlePD If I had to guess with so little info so far, I'd guess that drugs were involved. So much crime lies downstream from drugs. Time for a citizen's initiative to expand WA's 3-strikes law to include drug dealers.

I have a low bar as to what constitutes a good day. Stage 4 cancer and a leg amputation will do that. But today is good. Picked cukes and raspberries this morning from our garden, and watched the deer outside my window (including a fawn) feasting on weeds. Life is good.

@KIRO7Seattle YAP - Yet Another Plan. How about trying something different - round up the people who are always getting in trouble (people with numerous criminal convictions) and permanently separate them from normal society. That plan would get my approval!

@komonews Christine Gregoire didn't get my vote for governor, but I agree with her stance here. Seattle voters chose Katie Wilson. After describing predictions of millionaires leaving Washington as exaggerated, she said:
“And if — the ones that leave, like, bye.”

@SaraENelson I think that drugs are just one element of a chaotic life. Forced intervention to a controlled and structured environment would be my go-to solution until such people can demonstrate that they can be trusted to return to normal society and function well.

@komonews Cleaning up homeless camps is an exercise in futility on par with protecting a sand castle built at water's edge during low tide. Forceable intervention to a location (McNeil Island?) that can get them off drugs comes first. Then do the clean up.

@KING5Seattle The underlying problem is that while in theory parents are legally responsible for the actions of their children until they turn 18, in practice they get a hand slap if that.

@komonews Why isn't the public given a vote to authorize more funds for the prosecutor's office, much like the library or Medic-1 or fire fighting measures we commonly see on our ballots? I'd vote for such a measure every time.

@komonews What is ironic is that directly across the access road to the Longhouse lies the tribe's marijuana store. Like the movie Casablanca, where Capt. Renault is "shocked" to find gambling going on right when he is handed his winnings.

@komonews My wife and I bought our first house in NE Tacoma back in late 1980, which is close to Federal Way. We were there for 6 years, and Federal Way was our go-to place for shopping. So much crime in that area today, just what I get from the news.

@komonews We don't miss our days living in a South Lake Union "cancer hotel" in 2018-2019 surrounded by filth, homelessness and aggressive panhandlers, and judging by this cry from the business community, things haven't improved since we left. A very tarnished Emerald City, sadly.

@future42org A fictional character (Mr. Spock) said it best: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." KOMO TV's 2019 documentary "Seattle is Dying" ended with a suggestion that drug-addicted misfits be forcibly moved to McNeil Island until they prove they can stay clean. Yup.
