Today, Aecon proudly joined Bridging North America consortium partners, Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority, local, provincial and federal government representatives, and project stakeholders to celebrate the delivery of the historic Gordie Howe International Bridge!
As the Canadian constructor, Aecon played a central role in safely delivering this once-in-a-generation landmark crossing. The bridge will officially open to traffic on July 27 and is the first Ontario-Michigan land border crossing delivered in 60 years. Connecting Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan, it is the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America by main span, and its connecting ports of entry are the largest along the Canada-U.S. border.
Thank you, and congratulations to the world-class Aecon team, Bridging North America partners, Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority, and all involved. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication, tenacity, persistence and expert contributions of our team and partners who collaborated across borders to deliver this historic project.
