no, I have a question for you. My 16 year-old daughter is 5'5" and weighs 90 pounds. She is anorexic. She thinks she is fat. With all of her heart she believes she is overweight, but anyone can look at her and see that she is not. She eats and purges and gets easily upset if we tell her she is not fat, because the only important thing to her is how she feels (I'm not sure how she knows she feels fat, because she is not and never has been fat--so how does she know how it feels? Is it in her imagination?). Anyway, am I being "hateful" to her if I tell her the truth that she is not fat and that she is in need of a mental health professional? Because she really and truly feels fat. Isn't that the most important thing, that she feels a certain way? And that truth is hateful because she doesn't want to hear it?
