A throwback to baby Chamboi.
When he first came to our Kaluku Neonate Unit in Tsavo, our orphan black rhino fit easily under a Keeper's arm. He took comfort from scratches in the early days – behind the ears, along the flanks, all the spots a Keeper learns by heart.
He's much bigger now. Endlessly curious, off investigating every scent on the wind, happiest in the mud bath with Gruff the buffalo. But some routines stay the same and he still finds his Keepers at the end of the day.

Mum is very attentive to her baby and its needs but why isn't she with her herd? She should have her mum, sisters and aunties surrounding, supporting and protecting her and her calf while they're at their most vulnerable as they are now
