Today I wrote functions to interact with my teams’ web APIs to manipulate objects in a database in just a few hours. Prior to learning PowerShell, it would have taken me a day or more to manually click the changes to existence in the web UI.

@joshduffney Without knowing any additional context, I’d say switching from a to do list to a Kanban board is the biggest advice that helped me.

Switching from the binary Done/Not Done in a list, to a visual L-to-R board of Backlog/To Do/Doing/Done, was revolutionary for me.

Learned how to use ForEach/TestCases in Pester v5 today. Just make sure you don’t use <input> as a variable name or else it will throw an error and the tests will fail.

@MikeKanakos @BillKindle @joshduffney I’m also torn with the proprietary DB for my personal OneNote, but I’m sticking with it for now. I keep my notes very basic so I could convert them to Markdown with minimal effort later if needed.

Ultimately, anything is better than a physical notebook for me.

@BillKindle @MikeKanakos @joshduffney The top reason is it’s included in Office and 99% of orgs already have it. It’s a hassle to get 3rd party software approved in most orgs I’ve worked.

Markdown is also great! I use a GitHub repo for my public knowledgebase.

Let’s say you need to download all the devices in your tenant and you have over 1 million devices.

At first you try running this command and you increase the page size to 999 instead of the default 100 to make it go faster.

It runs for a long time but errors out midway ☹️
