@PhillipsPOBrien On ex-Twitter, the reflecting pool seems overwhelmed by the fresh proof that Dr Fauci and other conspirators created the covid-19 virus then released it specifically so the vaccine companies could sell vast quantities of useless vaccines.
@anneapplebaum Russia seems very upset at the European funding. How long until they think of a way to strike at Europe without invoking NATO? Undersea pipelines, electric cables, Internet cables?
@anders_aslund Not just lying. He has always been mercurial (to put it politely), apparently never prepared for meetings, changed his mind unexpectedly (which he considered a negotiating tactic). When younger, he was pretty articulate. That's gone.
@anders_aslund Trump continues to support Russia and seems to want the US to slowly exit NATO. Europe may well be better off with a NATO that includes Canada but not the US.
@anders_aslund It started with Elon Musk. The President now has a doctrine that he can reassign public funds and destroy things, then claim immunity. So far, Congress has not much objected.
@McFaul Hegseth's re-evaluation of US military presence in Europe, evidently to greatly reduce it, is already underway. I've wondered whether a full withdrawal might follow.
@janicebilly@GovRonDeSantis Public education is being reduced to day care for kids from low-income families who can't afford the $1000 or more tuition for a voucher-accepting private school.
@anders_aslund The 18th century US government, with its fixed terms for the president, looks increasingly awkward. The state of Montana once looked semi-seriously at installing a parliamentary state governent like Saskatchewan and Alberta. And installing a Canadian-style health system.
@JayinKyiv So where did Trump get that from? And what does it have to do with the current situation? It does seem that Trump did his own version of driving to Kyiv and discovered that a beheaded Islamic Republic could win the war, anyway.
@Kasparov63 Brian Mast, chair of a key US House defense committee, recently reiterated the need to withdraw US missiles from Europe so as to make Russian escalation less likely.
@davidfrum It looks like US withdrawal from NATO is being done gradually, perhaps to avoid unwanted attention within the US. The New Yorker reports that a surprising amount of Administration attention was directed toward seizing Greenland. Perhaps after final exit from NATO?
