Imagine telling someone who isn’t a basketball fan that this guy was the biggest trash talking psychopath with the skills to back it up to ever play in the NBA
Mayo Handballer launches cycle in memory of his late son
C.J. McCann was just 21 months old when he lost his battle with a rare and aggressive brain cancer, ATRT (Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumour), in October last year.
Now, his father, Joe, a Mayo All-Ireland Senior Handball champion, and 20 other enthusiastic volunteers will take on a gruelling Malin Head to Mizen Head cycle to raise money for two of the charities, Hand-in-Hand and Oscars Kids, who supported the McCann family during their childhood cancer journey. The team will strive to complete the 619km cycle in just four days, a huge undertaking for an amateur cycling group, beginning at the most northerly point on August 22nd and concluding on August 25th at Mizen Head.
Next Sunday, at the eagerly awaited Mayo v Dublin clash at Dr Hyde Park, the charity will be carrying out a bucket collection and any donations would be greatly appreciated.

One of the most talented I ever had the privilege playing with and also the misfortune of tagging on a regular basis. He could side step you in a phone box!
