@JustinRayGolf FWIW: 7-shot swing on the back nine at the 1966 U.S. Open at Olympic.
Standing on 10 tee Billy Casper was 7 shots back of Arnold Palmer.
Palmer went 4 over on the back, Casper shot 3 under to force the playoff, and nipped Arnie the next day to claim his second Open title.
@BlackLegend42@NOTdaRealGil@BlackLegend42 Have you played it recently since the renovation? I've heard it's a completely new course with all the trees gone, like an inland links. Sounds amazing.
@NOTdaRealGil Fair play, I still love CCF but was actually just talking to the Tamarack pro last week, he was raving about the course post-reno. Haven't been in years but top of my list to get back to.
@GrahamParkgolf Great question Graham, mine would be:
1) Tommy winning the belt
2) Ouimet defeating Vardon and Ray
3) Jones completing the Grand Slam at Merion
(And if given two more… Hogan at Merion in ‘50 and Nicklaus at Augusta in ‘86)
@LinksGems I’m the same way, I like the symmetry of one par-5 per nine.
Woodway CC (5 & 14) in Darien, CT - great Willie Park, Jr. design, hidden gem and one of the best in state, has hosted multiple Connecticut Opens and Ams.
@TheGolfDivoTee Underrated indeed! 36 Tour victories, U.S. Open Champion, Vardon Trophy winner, and a runner-up to Hogan at Merion in ‘50. And a WWII veteran to boot. Legend.
@PatAllanac45858@Top100Rick Hey Pat - check out 'Great Golf Memories', they make these display boards as well as other golf memorabilia gifts, great stuff
@awhite805@Top100Rick That's awesome! You'll love it, Ireland is a truly special place to play. I'm sure you've got a number of great courses on your radar, I would humbly suggest adding the following if possible: Waterville, Ballybunion, Tralee and Lahinch. Hit 'em straight!
@awhite805@Top100Rick Old Head Golf Links in Kinsale, Ireland. One of the most visualling stunning courses you'll ever see. If you ever get the chance, play Old Head!
