Jim Jordan, as House Judiciary Chair, won't hold formal impeachment hearings of federal judges solely for "activist" rulings because he claims that approach conflicts with the constitutional standard, historical practice, and practical political realities.

Even though individual members have filed impeachment resolutions against several judges over immigration and other rulings, those resolutions referred to Jordan's committee have not advanced to dedicated impeachment hearings or a House floor vote.

Proponents for hearings argue that a pattern of nationwide injunctions from a small number of district judges amounts to judicial legislating that thwarts a duly elected president and therefore warrants extraordinary action.
