Did you know that 2/3 of all energy we use ends up as waste heat because of how inefficient our energy system is?
Yet we pay for 100% of the energy inputs.
Here’s the US as an example.
🚨 #BREAKING The #EPBD is adopted! Lower energy bills, reduced energy poverty, and less emissions will come with our plan to improve Europe's buildings.
This is the #justtransition in action. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this result 💪
Building a timberframe Passive House in Co. Sligo, is an exciting time and journey!
If you are interested in the Passive House concept call in for our open day on Friday 18.08.23 and meet experts in natural building, ventilation and Passive House in Ireland. See you!
@via_arch OK but shallow retrofit is nothing to do with the rebound effect...in a building the maximum 'distance' is 365 days the level of comfort is let's say 21 deg C that is fixed ...you can't 'travel further' to get more comfortable...that is why the Jevons paradox does NOT apply
@via_arch Oh no not this old chestnut? The only reason CO2 may be lower is because the retrofit was not designed or built correctly ....typically the latter
This is an *amazing* deep dive into how you can retrofit a poor performing building to Passivhaus
