EXTENSION OF CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION (CVR) AND INTRODUCTION OF SELF-SERVICE REGISTRATION FOR FIRST-TIME VOTERS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wishes to inform Nigerians that, following a review of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and feedbacks received from its State Offices, political parties, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders, the Commission has approved a two-week extension of the exercise.

As Nigerians are aware, the nationwide CVR exercise commenced on 18th August, 2025 and was originally scheduled to conclude on 10th July 2026. In order to provide additional opportunity for eligible citizens who are yet to register, the Commission has extended the exercise to Sunday, 26th July 2026.

The extension underscores the Commission's commitment to ensuring that every eligible Nigerian has a fair and reasonable opportunity to be included in the Register of Voters ahead of future electoral activities.

In furtherance of its commitment to innovation, accessibility, and improved service delivery, the Commission is pleased to announce the introduction of a self-service registration option (online) for eligible first-time voters. The new service will become available from Wednesday, 8th July, 2026 through the Commission's dedicated CVR portal - https://t.co/zSrbjW8vGZ where the step-by-step guide is also provided.

The self-service option will enable eligible citizens to initiate and complete their voter registration process, including biometric capture, using their personal devices without having to physically visit an INEC office. The system incorporates robust identity verification, biometric validation, and backend integrity checks designed to preserve the credibility and accuracy of the National Register of Voters.

The Commission urges all eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to take advantage of this extended window and explore the new voter registration technology option. The Commission remains committed to a credible, inclusive and accessible voter registration process, and to advancing the use of technology to improve citizens' experience in the electoral process.

How did he come up with this humongous estimate? Is it meant to excuse their abject failure in the power sector or to shirk responsibility and accountability? This is outrageous! He said $10 billion per year for 20 years, which will amount to 200 billion dollars.

We have everything to generate power: natural gas, fossil fuels, coal, abundance of sun for green energy, and we even have uranium deposits beneath our soil to generate nuclear energy. Why does it seem impossible to generate enough electricity, given the fact that electricity is the engine house for industrialization and production-based economy?

The bane of our problems is resident in our crooked and puppetry political leadership that clear less about the decades-long plights of their citizens. They don’t care so far as their pockets are swelling up and their kids are flown abroad to access the best education and medical facilities that were painstakingly developed by their counterparts in the western hemisphere.

Crooked and criminal agents basking in prides! They cannot provide the basic services for the people from whom their power is derived, and they cannot also truly work for the people’s wellbeing. It’s the people we blame because they have been so marginalized and deprived of their rights and privileges that they have forgotten the fact that these politicians are their servants. —Servants who have become masters of the people to whom their obedience and loyalty belong. Sad reality!

OUR DEMANDS

1. Reverse Fuel price to May 29. 2023 price of N190.

2. Reverse Electricity tariff to May 29 2023 rate of N60.

3. All elected and appointed officials should be on same minimum wage as civil servants.

4. Criminalize the use of brutal force on citizens by security agents.

5. Stop the direct and indirect funding of first lady's office.

6. Create a website where all government agencies and parastatals must publish their weekly income and spendings accounts, failure to publish for 2 weeks automatically declares the office of whoever is in charge (head) of account and the DG, Minister, Commissioner or Chairman vacant.

7. Prohibit government from funding religious Pilgrims.

22. No elected or appointed public servants should have more than 5 (SSA, Personal Assistant and Personal Advisers put together).

23. Prohibit spouses and children of Judges from contesting election (one must give up their ambition for the other).

24. Discontinue payment of all allowances to elected and appointed officials (enroll them for NHIS).

25. Employ and post civil servants aides such as drivers, cooks, gardeners etc to government officials.

The people are the power, meet our demands or face severe civil disobedience.
