@scarficus@RogersHistory Sadly worked in a school that experienced heartbreaking tragedy. Never seen it pull kids together as much. The y10 kids even literally chasing off scumbag reporters outside the gates st home time looking for a story. The tv show isn't like anything I've recognised.
With great sadness, we received information about the passing of Lily Ebert, a Hungarian-Jewish author, and Auschwitz survivor.
Lily was born on 29 December 1923 in Bonyhád. In July 1944 she was deported to Auschwitz.
Her mother Nina, younger brother Bela, and younger sister Berta were immediately murdered in gas chambers after arrival selection at Auschwitz.
Lily and her two other sisters were later transferred to an ammunition factory near Leipzig where they were liberated.
After the liberation, she traveled with her sisters to Switzerland. In 1953 Ebert was reunited with her other brother. The family emigrated to Israel where she married and had three children, before settling in London in 1967.
The author of "Lily's Promise: How I Survived Auschwitz and Found the Strength to Live".
Lili Ebert was 100 years old.
@Nigel_Farage 2020 Anderson said if people change party that should trigger a by-election (didn't call for one when he did) . I assume then if that's what he believes should happen they'll be one for these councillors?
@webba50@mikeysmith MPs get paid by the government just like all public sector. Issue is he'll also funnel money in "dividends" through the plc which he'll have to declare on register of interests. Whether we know where that cash is from is the question
@Stevemca66@rahhead01@implausibleblog Teacher of 20 years. It's a constant battle to get kids to underline a date and title yet apparently we can change their gender? How's that work?
@tlsmith1963@HolocaustUK There is a memorial day for Romani genocide (Porajmos). Its August 2nd. Many of the victims of Nazi murder pick different dates as their memorial to remember certain experiences their community went through.
@VivAustintweets@AnnieForTruth Happened in the UK a bank told a well known right winger they were no longer accepting his business. Obviously as his political opinions are in the media. Banks ceo ended up resigning.
@aryanwolfi@AuschwitzMuseum Some Jews considered capable of work or useful were admitted to the camp and later sent on death marches as the Russians neared
@aryanwolfi@AuschwitzMuseum Theresenstadt was not a death camp. Chelmno, Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, Majdanek and Auschwitz-Birkenau were the designated death camps. Others usually used for slave labour etc. When the ghetto and camp was liquidated thousands were moved to auschwitz to be murdered
@Twitarian2@NEUnion You mean those lockdowns I went into school and taught every day of? Or the lockdowns where I had to replan to teach online while looking after family at home? Or the lock down where we looked after all the key worker kids? Teachers didn't stop teaching, it made our job harder.
@DCDComplete21@ashtogold1@notjeyy_ Read today he says he has full movement in his shoulder now just needs strength, hopefully three months gives him that time.
