The fact that 7 years ago we explicitly felt the need to exclude our unborn children from a fancy dinner in the bet seems laughable.
I ultimately came up just short at 69.6 wins (though a properly prorated 2.7x Covid wins would have won me the bet…not bitter or anything…)
There was a Covid season (we negotiated a 2.2X multiplier on your 2020 wins during opening night), you battled admirably through some injuries, the sport of baseball somehow decided starters should only pitch 4-6 innings, and most notably, we now have 5 kids under 6 between us.
My best friend thought you might end up a bullpen arm, I thought you were a perennial ace. We set the o/u at 71.5 wins over the next 7 seasons and wagered “a fancy dinner for the couples, no kids if either of us have them”.
Over the last 7 years, a lot happened….
7 years ago, right after the @cubs won the 2016 World Series, my closest friend and I (both lifelong Cubs fans) wagered on how Kyle Hendricks’ career would shape up. Since he doesn’t have twitter, this is my message to him…a 🧵
Saw a Brink’s security truck on the street. Kids asked what it was and I explained they drive very important things around. With confidence, my oldest explained to his siblings “guys, that means they carry candy”
I cannot understand why any person needs to own an assault rifle. If you believe people have a “right” to that type of weapon, why stop there? Why not a rocket launcher? Does everyone have the “right to bear” their own personal nuke?
No, because that wouldn’t make any sense.
