@monicabeharding An unattributed estimate is pure fantasy, should we rejoin the EU it is most likely that our growth would be dragged down to their level and we lose the benefit of negotiated trade with the remaining 95% of the world’s population. Utter nonsense.
@MarkTodd_pol Do Russia not interfere in thr EU, of course they do . Does the EU grow as quickly as us, no. Does this Govt. drive high tax payers overseas, yes. Is the EU democratic, no, but we are. Can we trade with whom we wish, yes. Can our youth work in US, Canada, Australia, etc, yes.
@DaddyCoffee73 Why would anyone want to join a heaviy protected, undemocratic union of 5% of world population which is the slowest growing continental economy when we can deal freely with the remaining prospering 95%?
@andrewhesselden Why Europe? Why not the same rules as working in Sydney, New York, Geneva, Oslo, Cairo and beyond. The price extracted for such freedom would be disproportionate and to our disadvantage, Europe has a strong anti UK bias. But they do like our money.
@marcosagusstinn Of course they want us to join, they desperately need our money and market. Fortunately the leaders of at least three of those mentioned won’t be in place next year. Long live democracy and independence.
@KevinCraigUK@UKLabour@andyburnham Didn’t hear anything about growth, without which all of Labour’s spending plans will come to nought. They say no increase in taxes, borrowing is getting more expensive by the day, so no room for manoeuvre.
@archer_rs No, look across the channel, the chaos in Eastern Europe, the low growth rate and the high bond rates and be thankful that in 2016 sanity prevailed.
@dontbrexitfixit Democracy not a benefit? Remember what Tony Benn said, “if you can’t kick out the people who govern you, you don’t live in a democracy”.
@marcosagusstinn The UK was never a leader in the EU, it was always an outsider. It was was viewed as a convenient place to export a wide range of goods to undercut our national industries. For which we paid a high price with little or no influence on policies. Little accountability no democracy
@BladeoftheS All of them caused a drain on public finances due to high subsidies and eventually led to economic collapse through over-manning and low productivity. How remain public ownership?
@sonofr The case for joining the EU has never been strong. Since 2016 growth in the major EU economies has been lower than the UK, plus all the benefits of being an independent, democratic nation.
@archer_rs I need your money because only my party can stop themanaged decline the nation is experiencing. Each year we fall further down the world prosperity league. The reasons are manifold, no other party will face up to the many challenges.
