I have exciting news: I accepted a position at Amherst College and will be moving there this fall! Emory has treated me well and we will miss Atlanta, but we are really looking forward to life in the Northeast.
If you are outside the "early career window" described above, please still pass this information along to any grad students, postdocs or other colleagues who would be interested in applying!
If you are in your early career (2nd half of a PhD program or up to 5 years post-PhD) and interested in solving computational number theory problems using algebraic stacks and related geometric techniques, you should apply to our Math Research Community (MRC) in June 2023.
The course will meet TuTh 11:30-12:45 EST, and starts this Thursday. The website (still in progress) is here. (Please pass this along to anyone who might be interested.)

I'm teaching a topics course about Stacks this Fall. I'll be streaming it on Zoom and putting the videos online. If you'd like to join the mailing list and Zulip, and get the Zoom link, please send me an email at [email protected].
If you enjoyed GAGS, but prefer slightly cooler weather, then you are in luck! AGNES (Algebraic Geometry Northeastern Series) will be held at Rutgers, Friday through Saturday May 20-21, 2022.

Flight attendant: Is there a doctor on the plane?
Me: Yes, but I'm not that kind of …
Flight attendant: The pilots are wondering if the plane can still fly in characteristic 2.
Me: Oh shit, I hope Brian Conrad's on this plane

Next year's AWS has been postponed to 2022, and in its place we are organizing an "Arizona Winter Semester" aimed at undergraduates and beginning graduate students.

Actually, Georgia state law says that to be a resident one must have "no present intention of moving" and must not have entered the state "temporarily". Does this mean that phd students and temporary faculty can't register to vote here?
If you will turn 18 before January 5, 2021, please register to vote.
If you are a phd student or visiting faculty (or otherwise temporarily in Georgia), please consider registering to vote.
If you know such folks, please encourage them to register.
The deadline is Dec 7.
