FEMA plays an integral role in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. States would quickly be overwhelmed without their assistance...kind of why states REQUEST a disaster declaration.
Building back stronger and improving individual and community resilience post devastating natural disasters must be a priority. Communities in North Carolina must enforce locally adopted NFIP Substantial Damage to provide safer homes that will better withstand future events.
