@ProDMTimothy *Hides my favorite system that allows for one reaction a turn instead of per round*
Does combat take 3 hours? Yes. It can
Do I forget who's turn is next because so many reactions happened? Also yes
But does the system have mechs?! Yes!
@ProDMTimothy I agree, paladin is really the only class that semi captures that where you can decide to smite after you hit or the smite spells are concentration and trigger on your next attack
@ProDMTimothy I agree. I have my 3 sets that I use constantly. I used to have a hoard in high school but that was mainly for my players who didn't get dice
@ProDMTimothy Im trying to think back to the UA classes they tried doing. The Oracle is the only one I can think of right now. Extremely busted class but a lot of fun for my player
@JPsoFLY I was hopeful. I guess now I just wait a year till the PvE comes out since that's all I was looking forward too. And at least they kept mystery heros
@ProDMTimothy They built the Labyriseum. Part labyrinth part coliseum and the center of the little Theros district in our metropolitan Astral city New Halos. Other add ins are a community garden, little Gazers patrolling for the beholder police chief, and a bulette train
@ProDMTimothy Control flames might make someone the best firefighter around. And encode thoughts would be fun only if other people you know aldo know it. But I'd probably go thaumaturgy to be extra dramatic.
@ProDMTimothy I've never used one in a combat. I used one more like a set piece. A more powerful NPC(that was a resurrected PC) killed the lich while the party fought the adds. The fight ended in the lich and NPC destroying eachother so the party took on the mission to destroy the phylactory
@ProDMTimothy We do cut aways during downtime using higher level abilities. I usually think players can use higher level stuff in training in a controlled environment, but in the heat of the moment they aren't able to pull it off
@ProDMTimothy Currently in a party with a shadow monk that is going through something and respeced into drunken master. So not a full class switch but subclass. My character told him to pull himself together (cause he rolled 2 nat 1s in a combat) now there is some friction.
@ProDMTimothy I have a spreadsheet to keep track of health in one pool and damage versus AC and instead of focusing on the PCs with the hoard damage i will focus a stronghold or strategic element. The goal is beat the hoard before it dishes out too much damage to the target. Like helms deep
@ProDMTimothy Depends on the table, but I'll offer a bargain. Expend a spell slots 2 levels higher and I'll let you speak to other monstrosities to less rules focused tables
