Yesterday I posted this tweet in which I made a minor error and put the sentence the wrong way round.
Surely most people will have understood what I meant and recognised it as a typo.
What a storm in a tea cup.
Audit Committee will have much wider scope than before and the new chair will be able to report directly to the mayor, cabinet and council on committee findings
New: Liberal Democrat councillor @Kristoforbrown will be the new chair of Liverpool Council's new Audit Committee, after agreement reached between Lib Dems and ruling Labour group
Max Caller said committee should be independent of the ruling administration in his damning report
@JustMe24530353 Fair enough. For the record, the @LibDems should always stand a candidate and especially not stand aside for someone expelled from the party.
Thank you! We increased our vote significantly on last time so we should be proud of that. Sadly I was unsuccessful in Dukes. If the rogue independent hadn’t messed anyone about I might have been able to challenge the Tories more. Onwards and upwards.
LCR Elections:
Thank you to @andypcorkhill & @davidnewmanlcr for a campaign we're proud of.
Congratulations to @MetroMayorSteve.
We hope you'll work with us, @LiverLibDems, & others throughout the region - to build on many of the excellent ideas that came out of the election.
A massive thank you to the people of Aigburth and Mossley Hill for electing me to serve them as councillor. I am honored & humbled to serve you. Regardless of how you voted, I will, to the best of my ability, work hard to ensure you are well represented. @LibDems@LiverLibDems
@LeroyDLS@MetroMayorSteve @GaryCargillx @j_l_marsden@JayRoberts86 Because it’s important we have a candidate. Important people can vote for something different. I have my own vision for the LCR. And, although it might be tough. There’s always a chance of winning by being on the ballot. If you’re not on the ballot, there’s no chance :)
@LeroyDLS@MetroMayorSteve @GaryCargillx @j_l_marsden@JayRoberts86 there’s really not much else that the rest of us can do other than try and fundraise. We’ve got great members and supporters who’ve come through to help. But we’re never gonna match fund the bigger parties without union or commercial interest or a VERY rich individual donor.
@LeroyDLS@MetroMayorSteve @GaryCargillx @j_l_marsden@JayRoberts86 I don’t think Labour or the Conservatives will deny they have a bigger ‘war chest’. Trade Unions give a HUGE amount to Labour’s campaign activities. Given the Metro Mayor (And PCC, another £5K) are the most expensive elections on the grid just to be on the ballot
@LeroyDLS@MetroMayorSteve @GaryCargillx @j_l_marsden@JayRoberts86 Much to play with. And as I say, I say that in fairness to everyone. It would be hard to get round to everyone even if we did have the cash too.
@LeroyDLS@MetroMayorSteve @GaryCargillx @j_l_marsden@JayRoberts86 Sure. In fairness to all the candidates, there are 1.8 million voters. For smaller parties it costs us a lot even just to stand. £5000 just to get on the ballot for the deposit, plus over £3,000 for the booklet. For those of us that rely on small donations, it doesn’t give us
@LeroyDLS@MetroMayorSteve @GaryCargillx @j_l_marsden Of a universal basic income. Putting the climate emergency at the heart of decision making. I want to clean up our politics too. Open, transparent and accountable government. Make sure we’re open to investment from ethical investors not dodgy developers.
