Very sad news to hear of the passing of the Queen. A life of public service and a unifying presence. My condolences and thoughts are with her family at this time.
United voice from 🏴’s 32 @COSLA councils: @scotgov budget does not deliver for our local communities. “Ground-breaking initiative is required & soon” or #democracy#participation will be the loser. Useful perspective 👇Paucity of Esteem | davidsberry https://t.co/3X5G03eQFz
Good to visit new @Madrascollege with Cllr David Ross Co-Leader of Fife Council who with former cllr Bryan Poole was instrumental in ensuring @FifeCouncil remained committed to a new-build replacement Madras College and securing a land deal with @univofstandrews. @DavidR_Fife
The Scottish Government gave Councils only £94m to cover all pay, inflation and demographic pressures. To match the Government's NHS offer would cost Councils £356m. Maybe @NicolaSturgeon can tell Council workers why she won't fund their pay rise?
A really strong 💪 & united Local Government Voice resonated through @COSLA Leaders as we discussed a 25 item agenda effectively & efficiently in 100mins, reflecting the scope of Local Govt work with & for our communities. A tone of civility & respect. 🙏 to all council leaders

The pandemic has laid bare the failings of centralised state - the future needs to be founded on a huge boost to councils’ share of the tax take, the devolution of everything from health to transport, and localised responses to any future emergencies. https://t.co/zuHLkYZPNZ
Thanks to all participants of today's board & to the @TSScot team for the huge amount of really valuable work they have been doing during the covid19 situation. Scammers & illegal money lending unsurprisingly dominating the agenda.
