"Democracy is one of the most profound political ideas ever. Because it says everyone of us counts , everyone of us has a voice. You lose that.....you lose everything because it then becomes a game for the rich and powerful." Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks.
@paulroberts_Pem@ConservativesTW I am saddened to learn about Godfrey's passing. I always enjoyed my chats with him at the Town Hall and valued his wise council in debate. RIP Godfrey.
@Kilkeerock Siobhan check the correspondence relating to the discharge of the planning condition. The developer request to amend the planning condition would have been signed off by TWBC in consultation with Portfolio Holder for Planning.
@VotePembury@alanbullion2@james_rands@martinwebber2@TWAlliance@BenChapelard My view is that any candidate or party that does not make themselves available for debate or scrutiny DO NOT deserve our vote. The electorate needs to remember this next Thursday. This is not the GE but a key local election, which affects us all.
@kentishsal@TWellsCouncil Sally I will be happy to support BP decisions when they are correct eg Community Fund. However, virement of ยฃ2.5m for strategic acquisitions/ development should be deferred until the financing of core services have been restructured and stabilised.
@kentishsal@TWellsCouncil Sally. The Calverley Square project was cancelled largely due to a number of Tories abstaining in the October 2019 Full Council vote. Without these abstentions the project would have proceeded to RIBA Stage 5 irrespective of Opposition numbers at the time.
@maryharristw Why not adopt the National Trust model for parking. If you are a member of NT then parking is FREE. If you are a TW Council Tax payer then parking should be free up to a maximum of say 3 hours. You could book this in advance quoting your unique Council tax number. Simple.
@_TharikHussain Hi Tharik. Yes your passionate online presentation at RGS inspired me to pre order book. Purchase was timely ahead of my forthcoming trip to Croatia. Like you I also prefer in person events - Zoom communication served purpose during pandemic but time to return to 'normality'.
@_TharikHussain Tharik. Will post review with Waterstones. Incidentally I attended your online presentation with the Royal Geographical Society which was very informative. Regards.
@VotePembury Contract requires payment of ANNUAL fee for green waste collection - currently EVERY two weeks. Financial compensation now needed for missed collections as per Section 75 refunds legislation - NOT an extension of service into winter months which residents HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR!
@SimonCalder Simon. Looking to travel to Croatia for two weeks from 24th September. The country is currently on GREEN watch list. I am concerned that the country will be downgraded to AMBER or even RED at next government review. What do you think?
@nick_pope@SaveCapel@isuths@MattBailey_TW@CllrR_Atkins NO ! Flood plains should be protected by statute. Local flood solutions DO NOT and Will Not work. Strong representations need to be made to elected representatives - ie MPs and local councillors. Also essential that Planning Inspector nominated to examine Local Plan is lobbyed.
@spursliz@nick_pope Nick. Failed collection in Pembury again this week. Mindful of actions taken by TMBC the waste collection issues need to be raised at Full Council on 7th July - as part of Overview & Scrutiny report discussions perhaps! Update needed from Leader or Portfolio Holder. Regards.
