Prophetic paradigms - Are you a thermostat or thermometer ?
Former Anglican priest - now committed to social justice & equality issues in the 2/3rds World
Why is it that "tough choices" are always about harming the poor and disabled, and never about making the very wealthiest pay their fair share?
My piece for @MetroUK.

Poverty, homelessness and the many other problems in our society won’t be fixed by a change in personality.
They will only be fixed by a radical change in policy — away from austerity and privatisation, and toward a redistribution of wealth and power.
I’ve been reading a lot about Simon Nkoli of late. His coming out as gay during his imprisonment as part of the Delmas 22 in the 80s helped shift the ANC & broader liberation movement’s stance on discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. By the 90s, he & others lobbied directly for its constitutional protection, and it was. We do not honour him enough for the intersectionality of his anti-Apartheid work, and the need for the protection of human rights to continue to be thus.
Homophobic repression intensifies in West Africa, with more countries criminalising LGBTs or increasing penalties.
Niger is the latest
Almost half of Africa’s 54 states now criminalise same-sex relationships
Human rights must be universal

REVEALED: Jewish activists @JAZA_UK have shown us material from inside an Israeli property event in London yesterday, which shows that illegal settlements on Palestinian land were on sale in the UK.
Activists gained access to the event, spoke to numerous developers about the properties for sale in Israeli settlements - which are illegal under British and international law - before they were ejected for disrupting the speeches.
The Board of Deputies, which calls itself a representational body for British Jews, claimed that all properties being sold were inside Israel, however these pamphlets clearly show the opposite is true.
For World Refugee Day 2026 (20 June), the Anglican Communion has released a statement resisting divisive political narratives as global displacement nears 136 million. An excerpt reads:
'We celebrate the dignity of refugees and displaced persons, and the contributions they make in our faith communities...'
'...we write as well to resist—to resist increasingly powerful narratives that polarise how we see refugees and how we speak of them, often reducing them to slogans to gather votes.'
The statement has been written by the Anglican Communion's representatives on the UNHCR Multi-Religious Council of Leaders: The Most Revd Maimbo Mndowla (Archbishop and Primate, the Anglican Church of Tanzania) and the Rt Revd Mark D. W. Edington (Bishop in Charge, the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe).
This latest statement is a continuation of the Anglican Communion’s ongoing advocacy work, supporting grassroots efforts in local communities through to ensuring representation at international meetings of intergovernmental bodies such as the UNHCR.

Niger military junta criminalises homosexuality with 5-10 years in prison
The same penalty applies to same-sex marriage spouses, witnesses & organisers
Huge homophobic backlash across West Africa. Fuelled by extremist Christian & Muslim leaders. SHAME!

"I am a refugee, but I am also..." ✊🏾🏳️🌈
The world uses 'refugee' as a limiting label—but our community is a vibrant tapestry of joy and talent. No one can be reduced to a single word.

After Palestine protest at Appeal Court, I went for a coffee in Pret, far up the road in The Strand
As I got my coffee, I turned to find myself surrounded by police. They demanded I show my placard & filmed it
My placard is not unlawful. This was intimidation. POLICE STATE!
As a proud gay man who supports trans people, I’m furious at Labour launching an LGB group excluding trans people. Our community is strongest when we stand together, not when people are separated out. Division isn’t progress….. solidarity is.

Niger joins Ghana and Senegal in passing a law criminalising same-sex relationships.
The government has enacted a new penal code that criminalises same-sex relations with heavy jail sentences. By passing the reform, it follows in the footsteps of other West African countries in adopting tough anti-LGBTQ legislation.
While relations between people of the same sex were heavily stigmatised in the Muslim-majority country, they had not previously been a criminal offence.
Under the new law, same-sex relations are punishable by a jail term of five to 10 years and a fine.
It also states that anyone committing or attempting to commit "an indecent or unnatural act, or Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual practices" faces the same penalty.
It adds that "anyone who enters into marriage with a person of the same sex" faces 10 to 20 years' imprisonment.
Since seizing power in 2023, General Abdourahamane Tiani has pushed an anti-Western agenda, criticising some of its values.
I've received over 50 threatening messages from Zionists because of the videos I posted documenting the brutal crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.
I need your support and kind words to continue until my last breath 🇵🇸
