BLIND RAGE
Here's a bit of my epic poem where the protagonist rants at the sun. Thought it might do better in the atmosphere of all the wildfires they're reporting. The poem should be pinned overhead if you want to read more. Hope I didn't overdo the quotes:
On the horizon the final belligerent
Poked a bright spike in the man's swollen eyes
Taken by him as an act inconsiderate
Fit to respond to with furious cries:
"'Hateful reminder of labours that lie in store!
Rude interrupter of comforting rest!
You who illuminates what sleep is perfect for
Just when I'm trying to get myself dressed!
'Giver of headaches and sapper of energy
We are held fast in your withering glow
As with the same hand you offer eternity
Slowly you push us to darkness below
'Such was the awe you inspired in ages past
That to appease you our own would be slain
Pleading for guidance with eyes to the heavens cast
Dreading abandonment out on the plain
'Only with virginal blood were you satisfied
Woe to the maiden of chastity true
Should fearful neighbours to break down her door decide
So that they might on their altar please you
'Even as he with the instrument of your will
Raises it high to increase his fell blow-'"
BEWARE YOUTUBE SUBSCRIPTIONS
I am very disappointed with my YouTube subscriptions these days. I never should have clicked on that 'subscribe' button. It costs me money every month and I can't stop it. I'm stuck paying people who insult me. My email is flooded with mail I don't want. I only watch music videos and old sitcoms now. That's all the site's good for. They can stick their politics up their ass.
I'll have to make a short video to show you how the subscriptions reappear on my YT home page after I delete them. The bank suggested I change my credit card number, but that would downgrade my status as a user. So I bite the big one and pay.
About my money, it's not a lot but it's all I have. I'd have more but it was stolen from me by millionaires and billionaires back in 2007 when I freely shared much of the work you'll now find in https://t.co/iN6jntqSFT
I did not want to hate my childhood heroes like Mick Jagger and George Carlin. I had to turn myself inside out to hate them. I had no choice because they proved to me that they were rotten. They're rich, and they stole from me when I was starving poor. If you persist in loving them, I'm going to have to hate you too. Sorry.
DON'T MAKE IT EASY
I hesitate to comment on the wars going on right now because they are ultimately unpredictable, but I have noticed a pattern to what has unfolded so far. It looks to me like a clear expression of nationalism on both sides.
Being Canadian, I know little of Russian nationalism. I can only guess that it might bring a yearning for a return to the 'glory days' of the Soviet Union, when Ukraine and the Baltic countries were fully absorbed by the Russian state. Such a sweeping change could only be initiated by a Russian strike to the west, and that's probably why Europe feels so threatened by what's happened in Ukraine. You can say that Putin has no plans to expand any further, but his actions speak louder. The bottom line is this: we must not make it easy for him.
American nationalists, on the other hand, must pine for the days when Cuba was a satellite of the U.S.A., when the Shah ruled Iran and all the big oil deals were made in greenbacks, and gold was pegged at $40.00 US per ounce. You can connect that to the moves Trump has been making around the world: blockading Cuba and the Strait of Hormuz, for instance, attempting to install another Shah in Iran, and his interest in bitcoin. God help us, it looks like he wants to be remembered as a 'great American president'. If the Panama Canal weren't already dug, he'd be right on it, I'm sure. And like all good American nationalists, he hates Canada.
That's about as much as I want to think about it today. It's my day off. Peace.
FIRE AND SPRUCE
I hope everyone got my joke about the wildfire situation in that last news report. I know it's a serious problem, and I have some ideas on how to handle it. Since I'm not an engineer, I'm not sure how practical they are. They came to me as visions.
As long as we're growing our military, we should consider deploying the troops evenly across our north to monitor threatened areas. We should have eyes on them 24/7. That's how to 'stand on guard' for Canada. Build new camps close enough to enable a quick and effective response time to any location. For recruits the skills picked up by their experience would transfer smoothly to the battlefield (if necessary) as our forests were being protected.
And if we can have a fire hydrant on every block in a city, why can't we also for at least every square mile of our vast interior? Sure, we'd need a few million hydrants, but it would be worth pursuing on the long term. Beyond this, we need bigger water bombers. Those choppers won't do, we need jumbos. We need to be as mad as Howard Hughes in his 'Spruce Goose'. Think of a plane that big with a trap door in its belly, skimming across the surface of a lake...
That's all I can think of for now. Hey, I tried.
THE DROWNING HOWL: 17-07-2026
It's that time again - when the howl fails as it sinks below the water.
Thank goodness you tuned into us this morning, we have an important health announcement to make: extra caution should be taken in the preparation of all salads. A diarrhea-causing parasite has contaminated several key produce items, such as lettuce, onions, fruits, and all other fresh food that is good for you. The number of victims has not yet been clearly determined, since most of them refuse to leave the bathroom, but it is estimated to be as high as 75 out of 100 million. While it is too far away to threaten our area, we can't speak for the excremental threat posed by this story. If we do cause illness, don't worry, it should all be over by our next broadcast in 24 hours.
A gifted plumber has written a song that is capable of establishing world peace. I've heard it, and I dig its cosmopolitan vibe. It truly sends the spirit soaring, but the author is LEFT-WING! So that's that. We're not even going to tell you his name. Forget about him. Right now. Meanwhile, in business, a clever mechanic has invented a flying car that promises to end those miserable traffic jams, once and for all. Let me tell you, I took one up for a spin, and they're a hell of a lot of fun. It's high time we got these things, I think. Easier on the tires, too. Unfortunately, it's better to stay earthbound than to fly off with a RIGHT-WINGER! What did he invent again? Can't even remember.
Canada still has timber to burn, though we'd rather save our trees for oxygen at this point. A choking fog has descended on Ontario and illegally entered the USA, inciting rebukes over the Canadian government's inability to control wildfires. And if you look at our animation, you can tell how vast those blazes are. See how they make our mighty cormorants look like fruit flies against them? Wow, how do you fight that? Me, I live in a city by the water where fires get put out fast. I've no control over what happens thousands of miles in the bush. They say storms generally start these fires, so maybe it's the Thunderbird. It migrates north in the summer. We simply don't have enough people in the region to ever catch these fires in time. No one wants to live there.
Peace in the East remains elusive, judging from the words of a top Russian official. He said that they can go ahead and get their Patriots and ATACMS from the US, Storm Shadow missiles from the UK, Leopard 1&2 tanks from Germany, T-72/PT-91 tanks from Poland, CAESAR self-propelled howitzers from France, F-16 fighter jets from Denmark, ammo and funding from the Netherlands, CV90 IFVs from Sweden, armoured vehicles from Norway, PzH 2000 howitzers from Italy, M777 howitzers from Canada, training from the Baltics, even starlink from Elon Musk, but there is no fucking way that Russia will ever tolerate Ukraine becoming a NATO member. Such an arrangement, he said, is 'unimaginable'.
Lastly, someone has been drawing hearts, suns, rainbows, and smiles all over the sidewalks around here. It's a mystery, but it may have something to do with the school up the road. The suspect is believed to be a child, with an eye for colour and a flair for composition, who may or may not play hopscotch.
Let's hope she grows up. And that's all for this howl. Thanks for watching, and don't forget to smile.
LET'S TALK TALENT
We should talk about talent now, to carry on from my last tweet. My outrage is not yet fully vented.
There are countless types of talent, as my Grade 6 teacher said, even if it's just in how you keep your desk organized. Sure. As well as that might have worked out for her, there are really only a few talents that get any recognition, among them: athletic, artistic (musical/theatrical/literary), and scientific. Since so few talents impress us, it follows that people with such talents are rare, doesn't it?
But the media wants you to think that talent is whatever they say it is. There are many thousands of gifted artists that they shun because they're more interested in their own power. Every time you hear the name of the same mediocre performer to the exclusion of all the other superb talent out there, they test their power to influence sales. It works out best for them if you agree with them that talent is whatever they say it is.
They may be able to create stars but they do not create talent. Sadly the line between the two has become badly blurred in their corrupt hands. Stars may have got up and accepted music awards and other honours for stealing my songs, but they did not steal my talent. Sooner or later, that terrible truth will catch up with them.
WHAT IS THE MEDIA?
When I speak of the media, I refer to that thin sliver of our population, long supported by and working for major corporations, that dictates to the world what to think and who to like. While I'm sure there are some good people working for them, that does not mean that what they do is good - or even necessary. Frankly, I wish they would dry up and blow away forever.
There are some truly rotten people working in the media, like all the ones who supported fraud made out of my songs and blogs for years and years. If they can't tell the truth about whole decades of an artist's life-work, they shouldn't be allowed onto the airwaves. They don't seem to care how much misery they have inflicted on me; first by supporting large-scale music fraud and comedy fraud made out of my work, and now pretending they never did anything wrong.
The ten-year statute of limitations on copyright violations might have been their idea. I don't expect the average person to have much sympathy for an artist who gets robbed, since the average person does not write songs or scripts and so has no sense of how personal they are and how much of their author's pride and identity are wrapped up in them. However, from the 'professionals' in the media I expected more consideration than that, and instead they've proven to be just as common as the poor blind fools who depend on them.
So what is the media? It is a deadly infection on the body politic, one that masquerades as a vital organ. Its goal is not to inform but to control. It wants us all to be the same, living inside its narrative, rather than carving out our own original territory. It wants you to applaud the looting of hundreds of comedy posts and scores of songs by rich and spoiled stars - rich stars who STOLE FROM A HELPLESS MAN IN A SOUP LINE - because, yes, if you cheer for that, they must own your soul.
PRIAPUS IS A PRICK
I'd better add a little to my last post - FLIGHTS OF FANTASY - since there are so many comedy assassins out there. Somehow this argument also seems vaguely in keeping with today's surprise announcement of Senator Lindsay Graham's passing.
My statement that 'men are slaves to their dicks' was coarse, yes, and blunt. But does that make it wrong? Does that make it untrue? And doesn't it take you by surprise within its script? We usually laugh at the unexpected, and at absurd truths when they are pointed out.
I've not said anything different than the message I got from this documentary about airline stewardesses fighting for their rights against exploitative men. All I did was to add another theoretical layer to it, and to suggest that all men are, to some degree, controlled by their reproductive organ.
This is the power of Priapus, the Roman god of male sexuality. Ugly as it is, men could not procreate without it. I learned about this strange god from a first century novel called The Satyricon (by Petronius). If you thought my tweet was offensive, don't read this novel.
Priapus has a mind of his own. Priapus does not serve men, only himself. Hands up, how many men out there have been humiliated by this god? I'm typing this line with one hand, myself. I'm not just talking about sex here but all the crazy things we do for it. Maybe Priapus made you buy a flashy car that cost too much or dye your hair to look younger. Maybe he got you into a fistfight. Maybe he got you posting funny tweets that bombed on X. Priapus is a prick.
A man can take a vow of celibacy, but Priapus will make it a struggle. On the other hand, a man can give himself over to Priapus completely, and I'm certainly not advocating that. All I'm saying is that the root of male-on-female sexual discrimination, while completely beyond the range of its victims, also lies, to some degree, outside the reach of its perpetrators. Now what's really so bad about saying that?
FLIGHTS OF FANTASY
I've been passing time at home with physically idle pursuits to give my ankle time to heel. Last night I watched a PBS documentary about aviation history - focussed on its hospitality sector - from a series called American Experience. The series is very good, and proves that you don't need a homicide to make a good, classy documentary film. Here is the link: https://t.co/UxyWDqHd3z
We call them flight attendants now, but they used to be called stewardesses. There were strict rules for admission into this field when it first opened up in the 1950's. Women were exclusively preferred. They had to be of marrying age but unmarried. Beyond this, they were not allowed a single room in the hotels that accommodated the airlines. Clearly their employer wanted to keep them single. They could be fired for getting pregnant, or gaining too much weight, and would be forced into retirement when they got into their thirties.
Sex slavery comes to mind. All I would add is that men are sex slaves too; we're slaves to our dicks. It's a different kind of slavery, but it's still unjust. Anyway, the little honeys organized and fought to bring fair conditions into their workplace. They sound so cute when they chant together with their high voices. God bless them. If you want fantasy girls on your plane now, it costs extra - as it should.
STILL SMARTING...
... from my injury. Sorry, perhaps it's bringing out my worst. Continuing from last post:
(A semitone higher:)
When the child turns out a to-oad
You can soon put him on the road
Plenty people will pay to see
Your unusual progeny
Chorus: If you want to make money for the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife...
IF YOU WANT TO BE HAPPY
Just nursing my war wound at home. It's turning all different colours, but it doesn't hurt much. Having fun with a Jimmy Soul song. I'm sure you've heard it. It's great.
If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
And from my personal point of view
Get an ugly woman to marry you
The elephant man, well, he had a sister
You should get with her now, mister
Got her ear where her lips should be
When you kiss her you can hear her speak:
If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
And from my personal point of view
Get an ugly woman to marry you
She dances long into the night
Not allowed to do it in the light
Her destination stays unknown
Every bus driver turned to stone
(Chorus)
