@PeterSmithYEP Remember in the eighties he was ref for an U11 game at Oulton. Aussie tourist were staying at the adjacent hotel. Fred got Wally Lewis to come and shake hands with both teams before KO. His respect in RL was worldwide.

@RaidersOulton Really sad news. Fred was at Oulton in 1983 and really started to get the junior section going. Him and Rocky took over the Tots and the rest is history. Like Rocky many kids will remember Fred as their first taster in RL. RiP Fred.

So you don’t have a good season , with the amount of talented youngsters on the books it will improve .

@WTrinityRL No words can express what this guy brought to junior rugby in dedication of coaching the very youngest and also raising funds for many good causes. He was the Giant amongst his own Giants. So many kids passed through his group. A legend is lost. RIP mate.
