Thousands of Florida State University students, faculty, staff, and community members gathered on Friday at Langford Green in a powerful display of solidarity to remember the two lives lost and the six others injured in the shooting at the Student Union on Thursday.
The Gathering of Unity vigil provided a space for the FSU family to come together to offer support and comfort to one another in the wake of the tragedy.
Another video from yesterday showing other parts of Carothers hall after it was cleared by SWAT. The classroom my students and I were in is shown at the beginning of the video, then I turn and walk down the hall. This is the 2nd floor. Carothers hall hosts many TA offices, labs, and classrooms which are mostly for computer science and math courses.
Students who were in the FSU Student union when the shooting began took refuge inside of Co-Cathedral of St.Thomas More across the street. Father Luke Farabaugh is one of many at the church who immediately took steps to keep students safe. @WFTV#FSU#fsustrong
This is the view right now at #FSU AT Tennessee and Woodward. Travel both ways completely blocked. Suspected active shooter call at the student union an hour ago.
Law enforcement has neutralized the threat. Please avoid the Student Union, Bellamy, HCB Classroom Building, Rovetta A&B, Moore Auditorium, Shaw, Pepper, Hecht House and Carraway as they are still considered an active crime scene.
Individuals are free to move about other areas of campus. Individuals who may have witnessed anything of value should call 850-891-4987.
