@neilsnds @ObiterJ @Defencebrief I think a misconduct pros against police in close protection roles would be difficult where the offence is a less serious one (compared to eg serious physical violence) given the conflict between needing to have the intimate trust of the protectee to perform the protection role

@Neuro_Matt @timricketts_ Very likely part of it; and lets face it immersion into a serious health condition is almost always a huge adjustment in any event, so wider societal issues/impacts on top can really worsen the sense of being overwhelmed

@Neuro_Matt @timricketts_ I find the issue quite interesting when compared with similar issues with other elements of language around protected characteristics / identity elements as well - case in point the Marmite reactions to the use of ‘queer’ as a positive self-identity term, for example

@Neuro_Matt @timricketts_ So I’ve quite a bit if lived experience of being (in my view quite wrongly) tone policed for language around disability. It seems to me that in some respects this over-policing is a bigger ableism issue than those who would use the terms derisively

@Neuro_Matt @timricketts_ I suffer with significant spasticity myself (intractable spasms to lumbar spine for 12+ years; take methocarmbamol and baclofen daily and have botox subcut every 6/52) and others have presumed to tell me off for using the term (appropriately) when talking about my own symptoms…
