Without vaccination, #DeltaVariant is highly transmissible. It is one of the most transmissible respiratory viruses we know about. Being vaccinated against #COVID19 helps protect against severe illness and hospitalization. Vaccination saves lives. https://t.co/o5UpOPMroV
New York outbreak substantial & hospitalizations have begun to tick up:Now 1,086 (c/w 10,600 Florida).
Deaths up slightly, average 9 per day.
Modest NPIs (masking/social distancing in specific situations)& more vaccinations would mitigate this.
It doesn't have to get worse.
In contrast to Missouri, we have ongoing good news in #NewYork.
71% of adults 1 shot or more.
Overall, record low positive rates inside & outside NYC.
Still a few counties w/ongoing outbreaks (not surprisingly, lower vaccination rates there).
Get #vaccinated : Save lives.
Continued progress in ALL parts of NY/NYC.
Lowest (7-day) positive rate for NYS since October 30.
Lowest (7d) positive rate for NYC since November 21.
Get vaccinated so we can live life and save lives. It’s THAT easy.
As I take the stand this morning, I want to dedicate my confirmation hearing to my Uncle Raman who recently passed away from COVID-19. I am thinking of him and all of my family, friends, and mentors who have supported me over the years. Today is their day, too.
The fight against cancer is personal for my family, like it is for millions. But I’m confident that with the strength of dedicated scientists and researchers, tireless health care workers, and brave families like yours, we’ll win this fight once and for all. #WorldCancerDay
1) So, this morning I promised a little tweetorial about variants and here we go. This will be from a vaccine/antibody point of view only, I won't comment on how infectious they are or if they are more pathogenic (I'll leave that to Boris Johnson 😉).
