The Median Australian income (for everyone) is just over $55,000 pa. A reminder not to project your own lifestyle when assessing the lives of many. The reality is the top 10% earn massive incomes and the bottom 50% earn peanuts.
A reminder that vast majority of young people do not live in our inner cities and will never earn more than 100k.
People need to stop projecting their own lifestyles when defining generations.

I’ve been waiting since yesterday for ”Queers for Palestine” ”Queers against Fascism” and ”Queers against Islamophobia” to say anything about the 13 homosexuals who are getting executed in Yemen, but not a single word has been uttered.
Absolute hypocrites.
If the Israeli government decided to execute 13 people because they are gay, the Western media would go berserk.
But when Yemen, Gaza or Iran do it, it’s just another Thursday. Nothing to see here.
Why this double standard?
As a gay rights activist and 78er, I am deeply disappointed that Sydney Mardi Gras has called for a ceasefire in Gaza while making no reference to the murder and sadistic sexual violence on October 7 by Hamas. No mention of the threat to repeat the pogrom of October 7 again and again.
How are members of the Jewish community expected to feel welcome and safe to march in Sydney Mardi Gras 2024, as they have done for many years, when the Mardi Gras letter to the Prime Minister has been silent on these traumatic facts?
Most egregious of all is the failure of Sydney Mardi Gras to mention the violence within Gaza and the West Bank towards gay people. Gay men flee to Israel from the Palestinian Territories seeking asylum and can now work in Israel. On a trip to Israel I had the opportunity to speak to people from an LGBT+ peak organisation about the struggles of gay and trans Palestinians who flee for fear of their lives. Little is known, as I understand it, about the fate of lesbian women in the Palestinian Territories. Raising awareness of discrimination and advocating for the rights of LGBT+ people is core business of Mardi Gras. This letter to the PM fails to do this. 🏳🌈🏳️⚧️🇸🇻🇵🇸

I'm walking home in London, get off at Chalk Farm, and see a woman tearing down posters.
"I'm doing this to clean the street. Clean the shit."
Then, when I put my phone down, she turned to me and said: "Ah, look at your nose. I see your nose."
I cried the rest of the way home.
Today, I've written a blistering 1700 word analysis of how #StAndrews school has responded to the brutal death of #LilieJames, but also to previous cases where their students &staff were caught upskirting, sexually assaulting & even choking teen girls. /1

There was a ceasefire on October 6, which Hamas broke.
Israel wants a ceasefire; here's how:
1. Hamas must release all 220+ innocent Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
2. Stop all rocket fire at Israel.
3. Hamas must fully surrender.
Hamas is the only party that can end this war.
Didn't you slaughter 1400 innocent people, burn them alive, behead babies and have sex with corpses?
Hamas: Oh, heavens no! That was 2 weeks ago. We gave tea to the two old ladies we released from captivity. We're nice now.
Some of us have decided to read text messages sent from the last moments of people’s lives in Israel. Yes, this is disturbing and heartbreaking, but it’s something I have decided to do in hopes it can continue to convey the depth of pain and suffering the Jewish people and the Israeli population are experiencing as we defend our right to exist. #TheLastMessage #HamasisISIS
To these people, many of whom are decent and well-meaning: If your first words in response to this unspeakable horror were not an unequivocal condemnation of it, then you have no right to criticise Israel's response. By your logic Israel's retaliation is just as inevitable. 8/

I'm voting yes because I have so much love for Australia and so much optimism for the future we can build together, one that celebrates the oldest living cultures on earth as a core part of our national identity.
We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. #YES#yes23
