When I started Coastal, so many of my mentors told me to hire the person who wants it more versus the person who has the pedigree and years of experience.
They were 100% right.
Balancing the need of moving fast and shipping with being hyper focused on someone’s intrinsic motivations and collaboration skills isn’t easy.
But if it was easy, everyone would do it.
When you actually take the time to think through problems, communicate honestly, and work together as a true team, that’s when everything shifts from a scarcity mindset to a growth and abundance mindset.
These ‘C’s are common characteristics across every successful individual I know and admire.
It’s not just about showing up—it’s about digging deep, thinking bigger, seeing the forest through the trees, and getting real with the people around you.
