Can generative AI really only get better from here? When it comes to hardware and software, sure. When it comes to data, the story gets a little more complicated. Read about model collapse, error propagation, and more, here. https://t.co/41vprugsBy
My wife's wonderful poem, "Mother-Dictionary, Son-Thesaurus" finds itself in great company in this issue. Highly, highly recommend. Especially love the first two poems.
Happy #NaPoMo everyone! Please enjoy our latest National Poetry Month issue, featuring a wide range of incredible work—including Shelly Cato's award-winning piece "I Will Carry Her Home."

So @banjtheman just made 14 LLMs play each other in Street Fighter 3 to see which one is the best. It's one of the coolest ways I've seen anyone do benchmarking. https://t.co/NTuh4azvNP

🍽️ Who in the wide world of tech (past or present!) would you get dinner with?
Read who @David_P_Priest (and others) would sit down for dinner with and what he'd would ask.

@pauljpastor I studied creative writing (undergrad and grad) and found it vital to my work as a journalist, "storyteller," and strategist. None of my (very good) profs showed me those paths. Imo, schools over-index on academic qualifications and under-index on practical know-how when hiring.
⌨️I didn't get the allure of #mechanicalkeyboards until I tried one myself. After experimenting with a couple, I found one I liked - the Keychron Q1 Pro Wireless 75% with red switches. That clickety-clackety feedback is so satisfying.

What's the one question developers should be asking when it comes to #generatieveAI? According to James Gosling, it's "what's my tolerance for error?"

"What is my tolerance for error?" That's the question James Gosling -- the famous computer scientist and technical innovator told me developers should be asking when it comes to generative AI. Read about the full conversation here:

Today, Jenna Pederson and I asked the BIG question on everyone's mind: will generative AI make us better at flirting? Read our discussion! https://t.co/jW6C059Gy1
Everyone's been talking about "hallucinations" since ChatGPT emerged. But we need to understand that, for LLMs, it's ALL a hallucination. Here's why that matters. https://t.co/UFB3goLBwI

Sora can generate these highly complex scenes... but the hands still look funky, the light source changes, things that are just out of frame completely transform. Fascinating stuff, but I'm still waiting for the use case -- beyond cheap advertising.
I just want to brag that my brilliant wife, Lindsey Priest, was a finalist for @IHLR's annual poetry competition. Her poem, inspired by the poetry unwittingly uttered by one of our kids, will be published this spring!
Lots of people talk about generative AI for startups, businesses, entrepreneurs. Well, I'm starting a blog about gen AI for the rest of us -- the people watching as AI crashes into our reality. Check it out! https://t.co/MgTqZdtjGx
