This is when you knew ESPN and the SEC had it rigged for Bama no matter what. When they made it sound like Bama escaping Auburn who was so bad this year that they fired their coach was like beating the 85 Bears. They looked really good in the 1st half is such a hilarious line
Alabama’s last five FBS games:
Beat 4-8 South Carolina by 7
Beat 7-5 LSU by 11
Lost to Oklahoma at home
Beat 5-7 Auburn by 7
Lost to Georgia by 21
They haven’t beaten a current Top 25 team in 63 days.
For the “you shouldn’t be punished for playing an extra game” crowd.
2017: Auburn beats Alabama and Georgia in the regular season, but loses to Georgia 28-7 in the SECCG. It was their 3rd loss. Alabama was idle and got into the CFP. So Auburn was “punished” for playing (poorly) in the game.
2022: USC lost the PAC 12CG. They moved out of the top 4. Ohio State was idle and moved into the top 4.
It happens.
Make the argument on the body of work. Not on some principle that doesn’t exist.
2017 Auburn dominated Bama and Georgia en route to the SEC Championship game. Their best player got hurt. Lost to UGA in SECCG. Then watched two teams they were better than play for it all. Save me the “don’t punish them for making the conference champ game” argument. Bama is out
Sources: Auburn has fired coach Hugh Freeze. He’s gone 6-16 in the SEC over his three seasons and 15-19 overall. After losing to Kentucky last night to fall to 4-5, Auburn is in danger of having a losing record for third-straight year.
At what point do calls go towards the other team? I get OU is the new team in the spotlight and they bring in a lot of money for the conference but still..
