Ceasefire is for negotiations to start. US wants ending Iran’s nuclear and missile program opening strait. Iran wants reparations, civil nuclear prog. and sovereignty on strait, thus charging money on passing. Tough demands to sell to their domestic audiences on both sides.

IRGC and Mojtaba Khamenei ( Ex IRGC - his whereabouts unknown) runs Iran not the government. Deal with Iran's FM in effect if IRGC accepts it. IRGC have a decentralised C&C called mosaic. They can act on their own. Thats the largest hurdle any negotions US is making right now. #wti

Opening of Strait of Hormuz can cause a one time release of oil from ships are waiting at the strait. Production capacity destroyed is still gone. US is the largest oil producer. You may see secretaries being sacked and wonder about the state of the administration. As long as Bessent - Lutnick - Sacks and Miller stays in the government the others won't matter in the overall direction. This is an economy led administration. Maybe the first one since 1988.

As wrote on this piece too Kharg island doesn't make any sense. Its too risky and supply will be an issue after the landing. An assault towards Iran's costal line through Belocistan then taking over Qeshm are reasonable actions to take Strait of Hormuz if negations fail.
