A young man sent me a message after reading my thread on why a man must look at his fiancée's mother before choosing a wife.
What he told me stayed with me.
He said his father once made him end a 5-year relationship because of his fiancée's mother.
The painful part was that the lady herself was a good woman.
She was kind.
Loyal.
They cared for each other and were already planning a future together.
But his father told him:
"It is better to have a bad wife than a bad in-law."
He thought his father was being unreasonable.
After all, he wasn't marrying the mother.
He was marrying the daughter.
But his father refused to budge.
The saddest part was that he could not tell his fiancée the real reason for the breakup.
The mother and daughter were extremely close.
He knew the truth would damage their relationship forever.
So he carried the blame alone.
She believed he simply stopped loving her.
Years later, he says he still lives with that guilt.
When I asked what was so bad about her mother, he explained.
According to him, she was the type of person who took every conflict to social media.
Family issues became public discussions.
Friends' secrets became public content.
When she was angry, she exposed people without caring who got hurt.
She could be harsh, vindictive, and would even publicly attack her own children.
To be fair, he admitted she loved her children deeply and would do anything to protect them.
But there were two incidents his father never overlooked.
The first was when her son took a car his father bought for him and disappeared with it.
Instead of handling the matter privately, she allegedly posted her own son online as a wanted criminal despite objections from his father.
The second was even more troubling.
After divorcing her husband, she allegedly went online claiming she was still married to him because he had remarried abroad.
According to the man, she did it to create problems for him and threaten the life he had built.
What concerned his father wasn't just the incidents themselves.
It was what they revealed.
A willingness to weaponize private information when angry.
A willingness to destroy reputations to win conflicts.
A habit of escalating problems instead of resolving them.
Ironically, the ex-husband wasn't an irresponsible man.
He provided for the family.
His children attended top private universities.
The family lived comfortably.
Yet the environment remained deeply toxic.
Then he told me something that made the story even sadder.
His ex-fiancée already carried scars from her parents' turbulent relationship.
She often spoke about the pain both parents had caused her.
Before the breakup, she had even suspected that her family's issues influenced his father's decision.
But he refused to confirm it.
He couldn't bear becoming another person who abandoned her because of wounds she didn't create.
So he took the blame and walked away.
And to this day, he says he still carries the guilt.
Now listen carefully.
The lesson is not that every daughter becomes her mother.
Life is not that simple.
Many people consciously choose a different path.
The lesson is that marriage is never just about the person you are marrying.
You are marrying into a family culture.
You are marrying into values.
You are marrying into habits.
You are marrying into patterns of conflict, communication, forgiveness, and accountability.
Sometimes the question is not whether the mother is good or bad.
The question is:
"What does this family do when they are angry?"
Because character is often revealed during conflict, not during peace.
And that was the question this man's father believed he had already answered.
Again, I want to repeat:
Wise men also pay attention to patterns.
Because love may blind you for a season.
But family culture can follow you for a lifetime.
End.
One thing I believe everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime is financial stability.
Everyone should experience being able to afford the basic things of life, enjoy some luxuries, go year in, year out without being broke, and always have enough money. Since 2020, I haven’t known what it feels like to be broke. Money meets money in my hands, and I have lived a very peaceful life where I don’t have to worry myself too much. I can keep money as savings and, years later, still have no need to touch it.
You will never know how easy life can get until you experience stability in your finances. There is a certain confidence and peace of mind that comes with it. You can talk to any girl you want, travel when you want, and buy the things you want without doing mental calculations or saving for years to afford them. You make plans, and you execute them.
People around you respect you, not necessarily because they want to, but because they know you have money. Money solves almost all your problems, and it can even make you a better human being. Every single day, you are looking fresh and smelling so good, and you live quietly. It takes a lot of your worries away.
A lot of you will misunderstand this thread, so let me say it carefully.
But I don't care because it's not the first time that I will be talking about it.
This time, I want to be more detailed on it.
A man who has long left the university environment and fully entered working life should think twice before dating a university girl.
And this is not primarily about age.
I want to take age out of the discussion for the purpose of this message.
But a man MUST be older than his wife.
It is about life stage.
A working man wakes up thinking about rent, deadlines, promotions, taxes, family obligations and long-term plans.
A university girl wakes up thinking about assignments, exams, projects, hostel issues and graduation.
Nobody is wrong.
They are simply carrying different burdens.
One is building a life.
The other is building the foundation for one.
And that difference matters.
People connect most naturally when they are solving similar life problems and carrying similar responsibilities.
There is a reason classmates often date classmates.
There is a reason colleagues often date colleagues.
Similar life realities create natural understanding.
University life is also a season of discovery.
Priorities change.
Ambitions change.
Worldviews change.
And please note, this is not a flaw.
It's a form of growth.
Then there is the question of power.
The man often has more resources.
The girl often has fewer or none.
What begins as a relationship can slowly begin to look like sponsorship.
And this is mostly going to be the case.
And once dependence enters the room, honesty sometimes leaves through the back door.
And that's why cheating is more prevalent in such relationships.
A healthy relationship requires freedom.
Freedom to disagree.
Freedom to speak honestly.
Freedom to walk away if necessary.
Because she is not mostly dependent on you for survival.
Another truth many people resist is that university life is one of the most transformative seasons in a person's life.
The person you meet today may not be the person you meet at graduation.
Growth has a way of changing people.
And it's perfectly normal.
Can such relationships work?
Of course.
Some do.
But like I always say; do not pray to be the exception because that exception may not be you.
Wisdom is not only asking what is possible.
Wisdom is also asking what is probable.
Let me make something clear:
Do not date someone simply because they are attractive. Date someone because your journeys can travel in the same direction at a point in time.
Beauty may attract.
Chemistry may excite.
Intimacy may be excellent.
But similar life stages often sustain a relationship.
So, that's why I said sometimes the issue is not age.
Because a young man of 26 may have graduated at the age of 21, and a young girl of 24 can still be a 100 level university student.
Sometimes the issue is timing.
And that timing can be the difference between a relationship that struggles and one that thrives.
If you don't understand this thread, go and smoke igbo.
End.
If you meet 100 bitter feminists, 98 are ugly-looking and unattractive. You hardly see a pretty, soft-looking woman who goes about hating men and wanting them dead. It’s always these ones who are not attractive. Just look at Nkechi Bianze, Ojochide Obidi, and the ones you know on X here or in real life. You will notice they all have one thing in common: ugliness.
So yes, the less attractive a woman is, the more likely she is going to become a bitter feminist. Emphasis on bitter. When they can’t find a man, their cumulative disappointment in the hands of men, when they enter their 30s or 40s and have no loving and stable relationships, they suddenly discover feminism, the radical one.
There is a bitter feminist I know online, a nurse. The moment she got married to one handsome guy, she slowly jettisoned the vile posts she made about men. She started posting about IELTS and Japa content. Most of these bitter feminists don’t hate men like they claim online. They just hate the fact that other women are getting amazing men and they couldn’t, hence the efforts to deceive these other women into hating and treating their men badly. They want you to be as single and bitter as they are.
Of course, misery loves company. They simply hate what they can’t have, then recruit other women into doing so under the umbrella of feminism.
“You rarely see a woman demanding back things she bought for a man after a breakup…”
Maybe because women barely buy anything tangible for men in relationships.
Nobody is more revengeful than a woman. Any woman who invests and sacrifices a lot for a man in a relationship will not only want to get her investments back, she will destroy them and, if possible, the man too.
We all saw how Melinda (Taraji Henson) got so spiteful and vindictive in Acrimony. If women bought more gifts for men, believe me, they would do worse than men who collect back their gifts after a breakup.
This is why you have to be very direct with a woman. There is no need to go through circles. For every strategy you want to use on a woman, she already knows. Sometimes, they just decide to play dumb.
Secondly, once you ask a woman out and she turns you down, you have to cut her off and set clear boundaries. If you allow her to keep you as a friend, it will never favour you. She will only end up using you. If a woman says no to you, your business with her is done unless she clearly agrees to have sex with you while you guys remain friends. Anything less than this, walk.
I have a lot of respect for someone earning well and still investing 60 to 70% of that income.
They care more about being free than trying to look rich.
My type of person.
At this point, if you are still looking for someone to convince you why you should vote for Peter Obi, then you have probably already made up your mind.
This man has been consistent for over twenty years. He has campaigned rigorously, shared his ideas and vision, made himself available to the press and the public, and subjected himself to scrutiny inside and out, yet no dirt has been found on him. He is bringing something completely different to the political landscape. He is going with the people, not the elites. He is empathetic, accountable and shrewd.
Fixing this country is not rocket science. All we need is a leader who is not corrupt and who will properly manage our resources. Everything else will fall into place. Our problem has been the mismanagement of funds and a lack of accountability. The day Peter Obi is sworn in as President, you will notice changes in the federal ministries and every other institution in this country. If you get it right from the top, everyone will follow suit.
We all deserve a better country in our lifetime. It should be Nigerians against APC. We can’t continue like this. Get your PVC, vote for Peter Obi and protect your vote. It’s a fight we are fighting for ourselves. Don’t see it as doing anyone a favour. Shun tribe, shun religion, vote for competence.
As for me, my vote is for Peter Obi.
Keeping your word as a man is one of the most honourable things you can do, and when it is to a woman, it is one of the sexiest things you can do for her.
This is why, as a man, you should say little or make very few big promises to a woman. Keep expectations realistic. Underpromise and then overdeliver.
A woman could be minding her own business and some men will come along promising her heaven and earth, knowing full well that they have absolutely no intention of fulfilling those promises. I don’t think there is anything that annoys a woman more than this, and she has every right to be upset about it. It is one of the fastest ways to make a woman lose respect for you and cut you off.
