Does anyone remember this fair ride or what it's called? There were no straps... it would spin so fast that it would pin you against the wall. People would vomit. It was fun. 🤣
@PosenIzzy Distinct too. But I meant distant in time. (But also sometimes even literally. After all, parts of Ukraine are closer to Eretz Yisroel than Yemen, let alone Tunisia and Morocco.)
My point is the idea that the Middle East is this static ancient land is itself Orientalism.
@Robkearney1981 "like a little wax candle, rising and falling."
Is this the entirety of it bearing resemblence to a menorah, or is there more...? Cause that doesn't sound like a menorah at all just a regular a candle...

90% of the "European food fixed me" or "European food made me loose 10lbs" posts is literally just people from car dependent suburbs enjoying walkable cities and not noticing
@JewishWonk The gospel of Matthew says that Herod tried to kill baby Jesus by killing all of the baby boys of Bethlehem, but it doesn’t really sound like that what she’s describing. (Not crucifixion and more of Herod killing Jews than any Jews killing Jesus.)
