Some personal news: I'm writing another book! (And then another one after that.) Thank you to everyone who read the first two - you're the reason I get to do more of them.

[David Litt @davidlitt]

@TheStefanSmith Community note from my one-person community: I didn’t write those jokes! Jon Lovett did. (Which is I say with mild envy because they were great jokes.)

[David Litt @davidlitt]

To quickly clarify: I wish I had written those jokes because they were amazing. But I’d only been at the wh for a few weeks - Lovett was still in charge of the dinner then. (I did watch from the cheap seats though, and the shade of red Trump turned was something.)

[Stefan Smith @TheStefanSmith]

You bolt awake at the White House. It’s April 30, 2011 and you are David Litt, Obama’s joke writer, and you’ve changed your mind. You won’t include any Trump jokes at that night’s White House Correspondent’s Dinner.

Surfing is one of those sports you probably think is for others. That's what author and former presidential speechwriter David Litt thought, too - until he picked up the hobby during the pandemic.

He describes how surfing helped heal his soul and how it could even help heal political divides in his new book.

@davidlitt down with @CBSMMiller to discuss "It's Only Drowning."

Hilarious book from @davidlitt
I have been roaring with laughter page after page.

"Learning to surf is like learning a new language that wants to kill you."🤣

Democrats invoke a rarely used federal law to force the DOJ to release the ‘Epstein files’ -- the White House announces a new trade deal with South Korea, but with few details -- & a Senate panel advances a bill banning congressional stock trading, with a Trump carve-out.

The order of these expressions is so fixed that the phrase becomes a standard part of the vocabulary.

Also, there isn’t ONE reason that determines order, but we do encounter some patterns.

Re: Epstein, Trump's election success has been dependent on conspiracy believers.

Doesn't win 2024 without QAnon believers. Led 'em by 61 pt. Lost others by 16 pt.

'24 primary: Led with 67% with those who said Biden's 2020 win wasnt legit. Was at 16% with those who said it was

I first wrote about the Trump-Putin bromance a decade ago.

Glad to see the breakup has finally come.

Hope it lasts.

The Epstein story won’t go away because it’s not just about sex crimes—it’s about class warfare. The elites abused poor kids and got away with it. MAGA was promised justice. But last week it was made clear: Trump’s not the outsider. He’s one of the protected.

@Final_Process @DavidFCavell @lowlightspod @GevinReynolds Love Glide! (I'm down the street from them as I type this.)

He’s this week’s guest on @lowlightspod about sharks & his new book "It's Only Drowning."
