In July 2026, ABC News Verify published an investigation examining claims made by the Lily Jay Foundation.

Investigators alleged that:

AI-generated versions of Lily appeared in videos.
Some children shown receiving aid appeared to be AI-generated.
Foundation banners appeared to have been digitally inserted.
Some humanitarian scenes appeared to mix real footage with AI-generated imagery.

ABC also reported difficulty independently verifying several projects promoted by the foundation, including:

An orphanage in Uganda.
A bakery in Gaza.
Certain humanitarian missions.
A humanitarian award promoted by the foundation.

Investigators said they could not independently confirm these claims through public records or local sources they contacted.

The foundation was also raising donations while describing itself as not being a registered charity in Australia. Following media inquiries, some online content and donation pages were reportedly changed or removed.

The Foundation's Response

After the investigation, the Lily Jay Foundation responded by saying:

AI was used only in a limited number of introductory marketing clips.
The underlying humanitarian projects are genuine.
Some project details are intentionally withheld for security reasons.
The organization said it would improve transparency.
Was it fraud?

This is the important distinction.

She has been accused by critics of misleading donors.
ABC documented evidence it said showed AI manipulation and questioned several claims.
