Did anyone ask them their life story? How many of them used substances to manage their trauma? How many have symptoms of ADHD because of what happened to them?
ADHD is a cluster of symptoms. Look beyond the symptoms for healing.
You can 'treat' but then, you can also help people 'heal'. Go beyond treating. Look for healing.

Am in the process of reading 'Neurofeedback in the Treatment of Developmental Trauma
Calming The Fear-driven Brain' by @SebernF
Must read, not only for neurofeedback, but to understand the mind.
The impact of childhood emotional neglect cannot be over-emphasized.
After a high dose of psilocybin, the brain desynchronizes at a massive scale, causing loss of our sense of self, time, and space. This may drive the burst of plasticity caused by psychedelics. The next day, brain activity has largely returned to normal, but an echo remains – a reset of circuits critical to the sense of self.

@SebernF Agree. Psychiatry needs a paradigm shift. From the DSM to the brain.
Having seen the change from EMDR, neurofeedback, my prescribing is now 'slim' with 'safe de-prescribing' the goal. Possible and better.
Stopped prescribing venlafaxine after seeing suffering from withdrawals.
ADHD has become a phenomenon... over-ridden all other words for human struggles and distress.
It is almost as if you haven't acknowledged suffering otherwise.

@Tesla car handle saved the day. But honestly, who would want to do that with a Tesla? Monitored all around and app to track!

So much potential with Neurofeedback Therapy!
@BlackshepSusan What we need is training in other modalities of treatment that are effective and de-prescribing safely. We also need a different way to view mental disorders, identifying what is going on in brain mechanisms.

We used to be able to talk about this some years ago. Now the clinical community is in fear, silenced, with ideologies and agendas prevailing science.
@80eightzero With newer functional and neurobiological research, we are learning that our brain is plastic and amenable to change, able to heal. As more evidence builds up, the narrative about mental health can change.
@SchouJeremy Thanks for sharing this. It is great to have research with functional brain scans.
Essentially, EMDR helps the brain to find pathways to healing. Never mind the labels.
@VioletFemmeKPSS Wishes to you to find healing and thrive.
EMDR can help with the incident that caused the head injury and with ADHD symptoms. Neurofeedback might be a good combination with EMDR to help with ADHD and head injury.
