Yet despite the darkness clouding the sky,
We refuse to let our spirit die.
For beneath the scars and endless strain,
Lives people dancing through the pain.
Nigeria, you break my heart each day
How much more must children endure in vain?
Heartbreak has become our anthem.
Nigeria, my homeland, my sorrow, my song,
How did the nights become this long?
The street once echoed dreams so bright,
Now many hearts are lost in the fight.
Children learn hunger before they learn hope,
Families struggle just to cope.
Promises bloom before the elections come,
Then fade away when the votes are done.
The poor grow poorer, the rich stand tall,
While justice seems to answer no call.
From tears of victims to voices unheard,
Pain lingers longer than any word.
THE SILENT SEA
The sea lies still, like love unmet,
A tide that breaks with no regret.
I speak your name into the foam,
But silence answers, far from home.
Still i want, where we once lay,
For waves to bring your heart my way.
