Big step today: I’ve been wanting to try mindfulness In my classroom, but I’ve been afraid (asking 6th grade boys to just chill for five minutes = scary). We are in our Buddhism lesson so it seemed like a good time to try. 4/4 classes were a success!

Classroom visits are happening tomorrow & I’m doing Nearpod fieldtrips with my kids. My second period is in the habit of singing the “we’re going on a trip in our favorite rocket ship” song before every Nearpod field trip. Hopefully our Verizon friends find it as fun as we do 😉

ELL students blew me away with their written response. Sometimes I forget that writing prompts are also a great way to asses knowledge. Multiple choice is easier but writing really can let some students SHINE.

Finished our Middle East North Africa Unit. It was great using a knowledge organizer in our google classroom. Ss kept vocab and journal entries in ONE doc!
Yes, there were some tech mishaps the first time around, but I am TOTALLY using this as a way to frame my units!

Loving the “knowledge organizer” @P_Tyler_Stevens showed me! Ss are storing vocabulary, maps, and journal entries on one google doc. Ss are able to have a easy reference throughout the unit & a log of their work.

Students using a (modified) version of the Human Rigths Doctrine to analyze injustices around the world. We are using the Human Rights Doctrine as a lens to look at governments in our Middle East/North Africa unit.
